Help please

Did a long high speed run, immediately pulled plugs. Plug insulators snow white, except for a very very small trace of light tan on the tip of the insulator at rhe electrode, and on the ground electrode. Pipes are dry chaulkey black suit. Gas milage down from 35mph to 28mpgs. run several tanks of gasoline from different brand all the same. oil level and coollant level stay the same. Checked air temp sensor and tps by the book all in correct range. Did a self dignostics no faults logged. Starts good and run ok. Did the sea foam thing didn't make any difference. I thought I was running rick by the pipes and mileage, but not sure after looking at the plugs. It sxxxs though.

Thanks for any suggestions or help, ??? :-/ :'(

Sounds like the same thing that happened to my 05. I could not figure out what was going on either. Finally cleaned up the air intake tube with sea foam and ran some in the tank and was able to finally bring the mileage back up. On another note, when I did put the sea foam in the gas tank, my fuel level indicator went bad. Do not know if the sea foam caused it or the sending unit was just going out.

Id clean the throttle body with carb cleaner, and a toothbrush.Theres a good chance this will restore your mileage and youll most likely have to turn the idle down a bit also. Its done the trick for a few of us here with the same symptoms as your bike.

Yeah, I do that throttle cleaning every couple thousand miles. It really takes little time and pays off well in gas saved and snappier performance.

Its a 2005, stock all the way, I do have the k&n air filter which I cleaned good. I'll try another can of sea foam, and do a good throttle body cleaning, I forgot to
do that. I must be slipping in my old age.

Thanks, for the replies

If you have never cleaned the throttle body, and the bike is an 05 , Id bet thats your problem. Its only a 10-15 minute job and makes a big difference.

The bike is leaner than it might need to be. many bikes all stock don't run near the book guesstimate of 45 MPG's, and I believe because they are overly leaned out to pass EPA.

I just went 89.0 miles and bought 2.03 gallons of gas to fill it. This seems to be 43.84 MPG's to me..

Update, Did another can of sea foam, cleaned the throttle body, looks like new money, white rag in white rag out. Did a tps adjustment, it was already high but I maxed her on out, can run 87 if I need to, but will run 89 while gas is down a little. Checked a couple more sensors out, ck ok. After riding all day to day the mileage was up to 31-mph, Guess I can live with that. If any one has any more ideas, I'll try them.

whatever a TPI is - is your problem IMO.... What I'm say'n is forget all that stuff and do the BD garage mods, and you'll be happy. Christ, it isn't gonna run like a crotch rocket and it's not a hot rod., and it will never have that sweet mellow sound of a Harley (PM me if you want to know why).... It's a metric cruiser or a touring bike depending on what thread you prefer. I sincerly hope you get'r figgered out my friend.

Be a simple kinda man my son, won't you do this if you can....
