Bristol this weekend

Just got 4 tickets (in the Waltrip X section) with parking, headsets, and hotel thrown into my lap for this weekends Sharpie 500 in Bristol, TN, at no cost to me!
Life is rough sometime...

Anybody been there? Maybe I will follow the misses down on the bike... what's a mere 10 or so hours!!

(Never been to a NASCAR event so not sure what to expect other than 160,000 folks).

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, also have passes for a ride on the track (for Sat. morning).

Who is near Bristol?

This is something you've gotta do at least once. You will definitely need the headsets or ear plugs. Those boys are LOUD! Also, take sunscreen. Hope you have a great time.

Thanks! The headsets I was referring to was the ones with the radio to listen to the drivers. :-)

Wow, sounds like fun. I'm not a huge NASCAR fan, but I would like to go to a race once in my life.

I too am jealous. I'm not a big fan--I much prefer the NFL--but I do like Greg Biffle (Pacific Northwest Boy) and whoever is driving the U.S. Army Car (Mark Martin this year, I think it was Joe Nemechek last year). Don't forget to check back in and tell us how much fun you had.

Things you don't see on TV: Eye popping colors of the cars, the decked-out vendor rigs - one or two for each driver, the enthusiasm of the fans, good looking women (not many clothes), and of course deep fried turkey legs and boiled peanuts. This is a fun experience and well worth the trip! Have a blast!!!

I would love to see a race at least once in my life. On my trip back from Georgia I passed Talladega speedway while I was on the freeway. If my wife wasn't with me, I would have stopped and looked around.

I know that some things have to be experienced in person to really understand it. I had seen top fuel dragsters all my life, but that didn't even prepare me for what they were like in person.

I'm jealous, have fun!

Not a fan of NASCAR myself, but we have a couple of big races here each year at PIR. I need to go sometime just to say I did it.

Thanks everyone!! It's a nice race so that should change it up a bit as well.

I'd love to do the ride around the track. I think that would be awesome. A flight with the Blue Angels would be even better.

I have been there for sprint car races on dirt in 2000. They put dirt on it for two weekends back in 99 and 2000. All I know is that the sprint cars turned laps at about 147 mph! It was flat out all the way around or you got dusted.

I love that track and always look forward to the fall night race. I have much envy right now.

Watch the race on TV, very good race. Could have just watched the last 10 laps, but then I'd have missed all the wrecks.
