Tool for removing stubborn scews, bolts etc.
Craftsman Impact Driver
Sears item #00947641000 Go to your local Sears store and get one of these. $24.99 They can be used with sockets as well. WARNING: Improper use of this tool will really F%%% things up! I have had one since I owned my old 1972 Honda CL350. It was the only thing that would remove the case bolts without ruining them. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I bought one of these years and years ago, when I first started out as a mechanic. It's saved my hide many times over the years. It delivers a good shot of torque right where you need it.

I bought mine 30 years ago off the MAC Tools truck. I probably paid $30 bucks or more for it.

Mine was made in Japan back then, but its always worked. For a while I had trouble trying to find bits that didn't break easily. I havn't used the tool in a few years now, but I imagine bits are still available somewhere.

Ringadingh, I have seen some impact drivers that mount tool bits, but most of what I have seen are like the 2 I have. bot square 3/8 drive, so they take socket mounts bits.
One of mine is no name, probably Jap, and the other is Blue Point aka Snap On. With socket mounted tools the sky is the limit I guess... I have these in torx, allens both SAE and MM. Plus any old socket in 3/8 drive will fit.

Exactly! My newer one has the 3/8 drive but my old one has a 1/2 drive head. I think it is a Sears model.

I've got one of those....somewhere. My Grandfather gave it to me years ago. I have not used it in a long while.

Many years ago I bought a shaft that fits into my air impact hammer that takes a 3/8 socket. The shaft is made for a 5/8 open end wrench. The idea is to turn the shaft while the hammer is doing its thing (keep the air volume down). This works absolutely fantastic. I used it to take out rusted screws on airplanes and bolts on old cars. I don’t recall where I bought the thing but one might try Harbor Freight for a start.
