Black Out the speedo bezel? Just curious

I might be interested in blacking that chrome, since I don't pay much attention to the speedo, and the sun reflects off that bezel so much...

Anyone ever do that and like what they ended up with?

I have considered paint and or gluing leather to it, in a wrap so a lot of leather gets inside at both places, but am not to sure how to cut that pattern.

Is there a better method?

I considered it last summer. But found sunglasses or my tinted face shield made it tolerable.

if and when I will make one from a brown paper bag first. Leather like anything else ain't cheap!

I just don't like the glare.. Last thing I need in toursit traffic, and where I live there is tourist traffic. You can never tell when they will stop in the middle of the road because a moose is in a pond, and in Fall stop to look at one single tree. It seems they have no idea one should pull over.

As of late they stop dead center in the road for a cell phone call!

Then there are those who can't, or refuse to tie knotts, and so use bungie cords to tie down boats on some SUV roof..

Well I won one race with a brick red coleman canoe at 55 once, and for me that once was ENUFF.

The last thing I need is a refection off a hunk of chrome.

Maybe it is me eyes are more accustomed to bright 18% gray living in NH, and when there is any sun it is just to bright... I have days where I feel like Clint Squintly Eastman..

It can be very bright at times.I never thought of anything that could be done about it.Another instance of people talking here and creating ideas and solutions.

Well I plan to do something about it this year, but want to be able to go back to stock in the event a day comes to sell the bike.

A little swim and paint can come off, except I don't believe I can paint it and have the paint stick with out some sanding first.

I might go with leather and a glue, but NH is a northern rain forest, so if you don't ride in the rain you don't ride at all.

I ticked off a buddy last year up in the notch where the Old man of The Mountains was. We were on I-93. It was pouring cats and dogs, and to stay drier I was doin about 80.

Man he was smokin, and I still don't see what the problem was. Nomads have prop shafts so they are supposed to be pretty good in water right?

So anyway that leather ain't gonna be dry fer long.

And that makes me wonder if I can get real creative.... hmm I wonder what a high quality drawer liner paper with glue backing might be like stuck on, and then painted?

Really.. I wonder if that might work...

Just a thought but they sell adhesive backed vinyl on ebay that looks like carbon fiber when installed. I put it on my saddlebag to keep from scuffing the lid and it looked good.
It comes off with a hair dryer so it will stay put but can be removed with no trace remaining.

Order a scratched one from a junkyard cheap, sand it & paint it flat black or flat grey or something.

Good ones probably go for high $ at a junkyard, but one with a big scratch or a ding (which can be bondo'd up) will go cheap. I know you can find one, 'cause all these guys are just droppin' Nomads left and right when the chrome blinds 'em in the bright sun... ;)

No...

Order it by e-mail. That's how I got the used driveshaft. There's lots of wreckers that do business by e-mail nowadays, and it's cheap. I got that $300 driveshaft for $30, and it was perfect.

Shouldn't be too hard to get a trim piece mailed to you.

Shoot or run over a raccoon or a possum or even a cat and use the hide to cover the housing. It would be one of a kind!

I missed a great deal yesterday. 2 dogs tore my neighbors cat to bits, and in the doing killed it. I missed that fur, and the fur on both dogs because i was out riding...

In the past history shows us Nomad were fuzzy people, always wearing furs from other animals.

My bezell/nacell not that I can even think of that strange word will be covered in top grain black deer hide. I have the spare bezell, and I have the black deer hide. Why deer? because it stretches like mad, and so I can pull out many wrinkels with less sewing..

On edit. I think I might sew up a scabard too for my Winchester Mod 94 (real one) and mount that on the bike too.. Gotta always be ready... I bet the cops will like that, but there is no law against it either..
