windshield-less...

Any of you guys ride your Nomad without the windshield? I was cleaning the bike today and took the windshield and lowers off to clean them, and just didn't put them back on. Went out for a city ride, and boy what a difference. I forgot how much that windshield blocks, not to mention how much hotter it is with it on. I do a lot of riding to work on the bike, only 15 miles away, so I think I'll leave it off for a bit.

Hi, I rode my bike for a day without the windshield after I did some work on the forks. Riding the bike without the windshield is hard work, especially at speed. Wont ride a bike without a windshield anymore.

I would tend to agree with that. If it weren't for my backrest, I'm sure I wouldn't like it at all.

After I rode for 63,000 miles on my first Nomad, I rode another bike without a windshield down the freeway. I was so conditioned to having a windshield that I was shocked at how much force the wind had at freeway speeds.

...and I agree. Short stints without a windshield are ok. Long runs or highway speeds....not so much fun.

I take mine off all the time. Like others it is just short rides or back roads. I just can't take the heat with it in the city. Funny story. The new girlfriend has riden the last few years on the back of her ex-hubby's tourglide. No problem riding with me until we hit the highway without the windshield. I heard her screaming and looked back to see her with her shirt flying up around her neck. Good show for other drivers but short lived. Sorry no pics.
