OUCH!!

I just fiiled my bike up with gas, just under $17. It occurred to me that's about how much I used to put in my car each fill up. I never let the car get below half a tank.

OUCH!!

I can remember in high school about ten years ago, filling up my Ninja 500 with gas when it was almost completely empty for $6. We probably won't be able to get one gallon for $6 if a major hurricane hits this summer (or at least that's what they'll use as another excuse!)

I don't know about merry olde England, Ianicky - but gas prices have been increasing on a daily basis for weeks now in the USA. Same thing across the pond?

Guess all of us in the states should stop complaining ianicky. I just did the currency conversions and it works out to $8.52 & $9.78 per gallon here. It would take $45 to fill the Nomad and $180 to fill the car at that price. Oh, and the commercial diesel trucks would cost about $2,300. OUCH! :'(

We have had some of the bigger hauliers in the UK demonstrating about the increase in fuel prices, the company i work for has reported over a £1000 a week fuel increases over the last six months.

OUCH!!

Since my bike takes 7.5 gallons to fill if it's empty, which it was the other day, it cost me just over $28.00 to fill up.
I still remember back in the 70s when I could always fill my bike with whatever pocket change I had on me. Usually somewhere around 0.45 cents a gallon. ::sigh::

I'm not sure what's going to happen...but I know something will eventually!!! With the demand going down in the US...and the cost going higher and higher...it's just a matter of time before some real sh*t starts to hit the fan!!!!

OUCH!!

I remember the gas wars back in the late 50's when the gas got down to $0.18 a gallon. Now over a dollar a quart!! Wouldn't it be nice if our incomes had increased by that percentage?

OUCH!!

My first bike held 2.5 gallons & I could fill it up for 65 cents back in 1972. My Ford 500 held 22 gallons & was under $6 to fill.

Being a poor college kid I really appreciated those prices too. Right about the time I started driving, gas prices just fell and fell and fell. They went from like 36 cents down to 24 cents a gallon over two or three years.

Right up to the point of the mid-70's "gas crunch" where they quadrupled in a matter of months.

OUCH!!

When we rode to Williamsburg last weekend, about a 400mi run for us, we stopped every 80-85mi. Filling up at each stop didn't quite hurt as much but still $40 on gas for a day ride. Not that long ago in 2000, at $0.75/gallon, the same day ride was $7.50. Hurts when you think of it that way.

OUCH!!

A couple of years ago, when it was still around $2.50 a gallon here at the most, I was in Doha, Qatar for a couple of weeks due to work. It was right at $0.70 a gallon there (converted from liters). My brother and his wife were living there at the time, and it took all of $20 to fill up his full size Dodge truck.

Not sure what it is per gallon/liter there now.

OUCH!!

I used to fill my first Nomad up for under $5.00

It feels like a big rip off to fill it for near $18.00 now.

I do have a gallon larger tank now, but you could rent a bike now for about the same as the gas it takes to run it. If I did another 900 mile day, it would take $100.00 in gas to go that one day.
