Garmin Streetpilot C340
I received an email today from buy.com and they have the Garmin Streetpilot C340 for a really good price. Anybody have one of these? Any thoughts? I found a ram mount adapter for it, so it will work with my ram mount setup.

I have the C330 and love it. I haven't used it on the bike yet. The C340 says the street names outloud and I wish I had that feature. Garmin appears to be fading that line out. I saw a wide screen 200 at Bestbuy for $219. Maybe a Nuvi200WS maybe? I paid $250 for my 330 a year ago but bought 4 more for Christmas presents Black Friday for $128. How much are you talking Scott?

Are you using the standard Garmin mount. I purchased the C550 and a RAM mount. I was told by Ram that I should glue their adapter to the Garmin. Does your mount have a ball that snaps in? Thanks, Michael |

Fish,
Thanks for the info. I think I will try to secure my ram-mount adapter without having to glue the ball into the socket. Glad you all like the streetpilot. Seems like a great product to me. Last year we purchased a more expensive TomTom 910. I like it as well, but it has a hard drive, so it would not like the ride on the bike much. I think the Garmin has a lot of great features especially for the price. Michael |

I have used the c340 for two trips in my car and it has worked
great. Easy to use, reroutes you back on track and like the text to voice. Only thing to remember is that is has a hard drive that is subject to possible damage from vibration on a motorcycle as opposed to the units that have a solid state flash drive which is more durable. I do intend to put in a well cushioned box and put it in my saddlebag for some trips. It has a built in battery which will last about 4-5 hours or you can plug it in to a 12v supply. The power connector is made to plug into the suction adapter and not to the c340 itself, so this needs to be considered also. I paid 200 for my unit. They may have come down a little by now |

dtrider is correct about the vibration IMHO it is still hard to beat the Garmin 2610 for a motorcycle it is water proof and the vibration doesn't hurt it, plus you can program it on your computer. I think the 2710 is the same. Jim

My wife told me just buy a GPS thats made for a bike. I still had to run a power source so if and when the unit craps out I'll buy one. Although she doesn't know the cost of one for a bike
