Considering a used KLR650...

Just so many posabilities with this proven platform.
Big tank, OK off road, OK on road, used ones are cheap, seem very durable. Great mileage.
Most owners love them too.
Any feedback from us Nomaders?

There are so many dirt roads out here in the west (thousands of miles going everywhere) I love to have a KLR and see what is down all of them.

One of the big advantages to the KLR650 is that it has been in production a long time. The bugs are worked out (as well as they ever will get worked out on a mass production item) parts are widely available, and lots of people know how to fix them. IMO, all these things combine to make them the best value available in a DP bike.

I had a 2000 KLR 650 several years ago and did not like it much. The seat was too high off the ground and the bike had too much vibration. At freeway speeds it felt too light for me. Dual purpose bikes seem to do neither purpose very well. If I lived near the desert, I might reconsider the KLR. My 2 cents.

Probably, but the Nomad is better at two up riding. :)

Sort of like a Kawasaki version of the Ulysses.

Yeah, I know they vibrate at speed. A co-worker had one ( actually traded it for a Ulysses!) and really liked it. He rode all the two lane back roads to Ocala area and found lots of places to ride & camp out. Is it a great dirt bike? No. Is it a great street bike? No. But it seems to do both a little better than the KLR250. The 250 may be better off road ( lighter) but runs out of breath on the road quicker.
I have been sniffing around on ebay and can find some for 2-4K dollars.
