Question Planning trip to San Jose, CA mid-Jan. '13

Not necessarily motorcycle related (maybe future trip?), but my daughter has a ice hockey tournament mid January 2013 in San Jose CA and I wanted to see if anyone has information on travel tips; booking flights and cars, decent places to stay (or avoid), places to eat, or local scenery to admire with the off-time (if any). We'll be flying out of LAX; she's never flown before, and wife and I haven't flown in probably fifteen years...so, the TSA experience will be something we'll deal with and most likely loathe.

Matt

Thanks, I completely forgot about that...haven't been there in a looong time. I think the daughter would really dig it!

I would leave the San Jose area and drive Hwy 17 to Santa Cruz. Even in the winter you can enjoy a nice day at the beach and the Santa Cruz area. Check out the views on W. Cliff Drive. Enjoy the pier. Plus the scenery on 17 is outstanding. We found motel prices are reasonable when you negotiate in their office.

It is a neat tour. Sure kept a lot of skilled carpenters employed.
