ECU issues
I am worried about my bike running too lean after a recent dyno run and adjustments. I added a Thunder Air Kit (stealth version), a FI200R and Cobran slashcut pipes. I set the FI at the Cobra recommended 3-5-0 (I believe, from memory). The engine sputters sometimes when taking off from idle and I saw black smoke when accelerating hard. I took the bike to the local Kawa dealer and had them dyno tune it for me. After a number of runs the FI was set to 0-0-0, which means I am back to the ecu settings. They told me the engine is still too rich, but the FI can't reduce fuel only add it, which is true. I am concerned that they might be wrong and I am running too lean, after all I opened up the air intake.
I need some advice from my fellow KawaNow friends. Should I have someone else dyno tune my bike? Should I set the FI back to the Cobra settings of 3-5-0? I purchased one of those spark plugs that let you look at the color of the spark, but haven't had time to try it. I am not sure if this would be very helpful. Too summarize, if the engine runs lean stock and I added more air, how could it be too rich? Happy New Year to all of you. Login or Register to Remove Ads |
