08 1600 Nomad handlebar question

Hello all, I just bought a 08 Nomad w 4k for 7000. I love it. I'm keeping my 98 1500a cuz I love her too. My problem is that the handlebar positioning of the 1500 feels better on my surgically repaired shoulder. What is my best option ? Can I install a 1500 handlebar or what do u recommend. Thanks

If the diameter is the same you should be able to. Not sure if they are the same or not.

Welcome to the forum, enjoy.

I haven't used different handlebars or risers on my Nomad,
it fits me fine.
Many have changed handlebars and/or use risers. There should
be plenty of conversations on it. Have you tried to do a search?

Depending on your height, a taller set of bars with some more pull back and a better wrist angle might make all the difference. (Best wrist angle for most is around 22*.) Most apes are about twice that.) Dmyers was thinking about making some custom bars for others. I have a set of his and like them.

I guess first thing is since you can put both bikes side by side is check and measure carefully the bars to see what the actual difference is you are feeling. maybe just the angle they are mounted in the riser?, or is there a physical difference in width and shape. I would imagine if the bars have the same diameter and there is a shape difference that you prefer, then it should not be an issue to swap bars.

First...welcome to the forum from the great Pacific NW!

One of two things should/will help. You might just be able to just roll the bars up a bit, but more likely, installing a set of risers will be your best bet as that will bring the bars both up and back substantially. Chuckster makes some and the Scootworks Phat II risers are popular for these bikes. I too have an '08 and the Phat II's were the first thing I installed....

I may be wrong but I think the 1600 has a wider set of bars than a 1500 I saw some specs. on here some where about different bars I think Utah posted them

Hello guys, Fiirst thank you very much for the welcome and all your help. After I asked the question I did the research which is sorta backwards and will try not to do that again. The 1600 nomad handlebar is wider but I' m gonna try a set of risers that lift 3" and pull back 2 1/2". I think that should do the trick. If not I'll try to figure out if I can somehow get 1500 handlebars to work. I took the nomad today from Sebastian Fl to Ft meyers and back w 25 miles of crazy thunderstorms. I rode right thru and loved it. I love this nomad
