FLAT TIRE FIXES?
Hey gang. Like most of you I get a few bike magazines and have always wondered about those plug kits that have CO2 cartidges included I see advertized. Have any of you used one of those kits and what is your recommendations or any other suggestions dealing with a flat out on the road.

FLAT TIRE FIXES?
Honestly, I bought one and hope that I never have to use it.

FLAT TIRE FIXES?
Flat tires are a real problem with bikes, I had a flat on the interstate once, pinched the tube about three times before I finally got it fixed. Now I only run tubeless tires. I trust the manual pump more than Co2, at least I feel like I have a better chance of success. I have a mini foot pump, It stores under the left side cover over the tool kit, I also have a bell tubeless tire plug kit I got at wal-mart for about six bucks. with these if I can find the hole I can repair it. Might save a rollback ride.

FLAT TIRE FIXES?
After having a flat on I-45 going about 75 mph in the fast lane in heavy traffic (it was real exciting for a little while), I have invested in Ride-On tire sealant for both tires http//www.ride-on.com/ . There wasn't anything left of the rear tire to fix by the time I got the bike stopped. I found out about this through some of the touring forums. It seems that a lot of them use some kind of tire sealant, but some (like Slime) are corrosive to some metals so you have to watch what you get.

JMB...Where did you find the foot pump that fits under the side cover? I've thought about getting the slime pump kit. it's small and has everything included.

Just type mini foot pump into your search engine you'll get several sites, when I ordered mine I got two a large one and a small one for about 18 dollars, which ever one you like will fit under your cover. They have built in pressure gauges and hoses that you can easily get on your stem. I haven't had to use it yet and hope I dont, but I like to feel like i'm in control of my own destiny. (as much as possible)

FLAT TIRE FIXES?
I suffered two flat tires while riding on my last bike, within 8 months of each other. The front went flat with the wife aboard. scared the hell out us. Shop couldn't figure out why it went flat, couldn't find a hole or pinch anywhere......I said replace it all!! Tire only had 1k miles on it.

I also have the plugs (mushroom) and CO2 system, but fortunately have not had to use them.

So I hear more voting for hand -foot pump than co2. is there anything wrong with the co2 type? Do the mushroom plugs really work, seems it would leave a bump on the tire to deal with? So you must have 2 items: something to plug the hole and something to inflate.

I carry a regular plug kit I got from Wal Mart. I also use the co2. I had to use it one time. My bike started riding weird and when I stopped the rear was almost flat. It had 4 ea 16p nails in it. I plugged all of them and used two co2 cartridges to air it up and then rode it home so I could repalce the tire.

Beats me. I sent off a letter months ago, but to be honest I really don't remember what it was about. Probably in Cruiser mag.
