I've had a pair of these on my crash bars for about 3 months now. Mine weren't from Walmart, I ordered them through JC Whitney, but they are the same lights (Optronics 55w). Do yourself a favor and drill through the ring (that holds the light in the housing) and the housing at one of the locking "dimples" and put in a #6x3/8" SS screw otherwise the rings can work loose due to the vibration. I used a 3-piece 1-1/4" clamp to mount mine.

CJ, where did you hide the wires? I just put Kury's on the crash bars and have the wires tie strapped to the bars...looks kinda nasty.

I have these on my 06, and all I did was pull the lower's bottom bolt and put it back with the lamp in the way. They appear ok looking to me, rather like a turn signal.

Mine are wired to be on with the key in your pocket and so used a illuminted switch, my left thumb can hit. Of course it is on a relay.

The Nomad can run these with hi beam pretty easy.

on edit: one of mine has loose rivets out of the box.. If I could do it again I would open the box and see.

The E-3 lamp inside is in a glass like case, and these are a bit of a bugger to open and close. The lense is part of the bulb as is the reflector, and is replaced as a unit if you break the lense, or blow out a bulb.

Actually, those don't look that bad. I might just have to buy a set (or two, so I have spare bulbs & lenses.)

I think I'd just drill the stock "light bar" as it describes on Gadget's site and mount them beside the headlight though. I never cared for lights on crashbars much.

I drilled a small hole in the inside radius of the crash bar and ran them through it. I didn't care for the zip tie look myself.

CJ, did you go up or down with the wires. I am a visual person so I have to get a really good word picture to get my bearings, sorry.

I went up with them, and out the center hole in the upper end of the crash bars. I can try to get you some pictures if that might help you visualize.

That would be great! Did you have to take the bars off to do it?

Yes, I removed each bar, took it over to my bench, clamped it in a vise and drilled a hole in each one. Then I fished the wire through each one before mounting them back on the bike, I thought it would be easier that way.

I thought I had pictures of where I drilled the holes, but I guess I don't. I tried to drill them where they weren't readily visible and in a spot where they would be less likely to catch spray from the front wheel on a wet road, for example.

BigMike, Where did you find the 1 1/4" clamps? -Rich
