Threaded sleeve?
I think I'm going to convert my light bar into a Classic light bar (with the turn signals under the spot lights). I have a set of HD turn signals that I've already converted over to the Nomad (3 wire) socket. I attempted to fit them together and the "bolt" that holds the spot light isn't nearly long enough. I'm thinking this...use a piece (1-2" long) of threaded sleeve in place of the bolt to hold the spot light in place then bolt the turn signal in place under that to the sleeve.
I know it will work (and won't look bad) but the local hardware store doesn't carry it. Where can I get some? I'd have to measure but I think it's about 3/8" or 1/2". I only need a couple pieces (the online places have minumum orders of anywhere from 500 pcs to a ton ![]()

Home Depot carries all thread in many different sizes, which is a threaded rod...comes in 3' lengths. My local ACE hardware also carries it.

If you just want to increase or decrease thread size try an auto parts store for thread inserts.

Same thread size but I don't want all rod. I need the threaded sleeve. As I said, I'll use a 1-3" piece in place of the current nut for the lights then use a bolt to bolt the turn signal directly underneath the light. If I have time this week, I'll lay them together so you can see what I'm trying to accomplish. It'll look good for little money (the price of 2 sleeves and 2 bolts. Just need a bit of JB Weld to keep the socket in place in the housing and I'll be good to go! (Maybe some LEDs or chrome, too as you can never have enough of those.) Can't waiting to get this all together just so I can rip it apart to paint the misc brackets, etc. I'd hate for them to rust. :( I think, by the end of next weekend, the bike should be ridable even if it's not finished.

I helped qfarmer put his old 1600 classic's lightbar on his Nomad and they hit the lowers. You sure they're going to work?

I'm probably not going to run lowers. I'll get some hard lowers either this summer or next winter as well as some dragon wings. Hopefully, that will take care of the buffeting.

Bear in mind the threaded rod couplers will be zinc coated steel and will rust easy.

So what's the alternative? It would be worth it to replace them every winter if there's no other solution. I can't get a longer bolt for the spot light as the mount seems to be integral to the bolt.

That brings me back to my original question. Where do I find them?

You have to start calling suppliers, and asking them.

Or go to machine shop and get them to make some out of SS hex stock, all they have to do is cut, drill and tap them on a lathe.
