Arkansas vacation

Well, here's a little warning, I mean heads up to our Kawanow members in Arkansas. The wife and I will be leaving for our much needed get-away in a couple of weeks and we opted for Arkansas over the Hill country this time. Thought we'd try a couple of new places and ride some new and familiar roads.

We're leaving Sunday the 29th and will make camp in Lake Ouachita for about 3 days. Probably ride Hwy 7 toward Missouri, maybe cross over for a little bit. No real itenerary, just relax and follow our noses. From there, we will move to Petit Jean and make camp there for about 4 days. Any suggestions are welcome. And if anyone wants to meet up or say howdy, give me a pm and I'll give you my phone. We will also be on the web and checking into the forum.

Ride safe. See you guys around.

That sounds like a great trip. I know y'all will have a very relaxing time. That's the best kind of trip.... no plans. Be careful about asking folks to show up. You just might have Jim Hardin on your hands ! Seriously, have great ride, and above all, ride safe.

Petit Jean isn't far from two places worth checking out.
Take AR-155 out of Dardanelle to Mt. Nebo state park.
155 has a lot of tight corners. If you like twisties.
Due west of Petit Jean is the town of Danville.
Take AR-10 west from Danville to Havana.
In Havana turn right on AR-309 and ride it up to the lodge atop Mt. Magazine.
Signal Peak on Mt. Magazine is the highest point in the state.
There is a restaurant at the lodge that serves pretty good food.
I live about 40 miles west of Mt. Magazine.

Keep us posted. I'm trying to get everything caught up for the trip to National, but could surely find time for at least a meet and short ride.
You might stop and pickup a ride guide for Arkansas it will give you some local roads to ride. Tell me when you get close and I'll bring you one. Might be able to show you some in person!

Yeah, Dave, we stayed on Mt. Nebo for our honeymoon. That was great. I'll take a look at the othe ride you mentioned.

Jesse, am I right that you are close to eureka springs? I can let you know when we're headed up 7. That probably gets a little closer to where you are.

I think it's close to 40-50mi to ES. I live just west of Fayetteville in a small town Farmington. I work in Fayetteville and can be in Eureka in about an hour +/-.
Call when you get here or get close, I'll try to get away for a while.
Be careful and watch out for animals on the road it seems they are everywhere. Spring is here and they appear to have had a population explosion.
