I'm sorry AMA

In another thread Yellow Jacket asked me to post what the American Motorcycle Association gave me as an excuse for saying I was not a member and left me stranded by the side of the road 1000 miles from home.
Well when I got my membership card in the mail there was a small sticker with phone numbers on it for roadside assistance. I was instructed to place this on my card in case I had trouble on the road.
It seems this sticker was for the old provider not the current provider. The current provider is listed on the membership card already.
So, I called the wrong or old provider. Of course they didn't tell my wife they were the old provider, they just said I was not listed as a member in there files and they could not help me and hung up. ::)
I did call the wrong number so it was my fault initially, but they could have told me they were the old provider and given me the correct number.
It boils down to, I called the wrong number and I am not getting reimbursed for the money I paid to be trailered to the shop 35 miles away.

That's BS customer service. Even if they are no longer associated with the AMA.
They could at least be courteous enough to tell you they were the old provider. :(" title="" border="0"/>

What happened to your bike?

And the current provider should have reimbursed you for the tow after you explained the mixup to them.

Budman, I got a flat on the rear tire. A broadhead from an arrow. It would not plug. I have a compressor and a Stop and Go plug kit. Tried three times.
Yeahthe old provider didn't want to help at all.
Steve, after I explained what happened to the lady at AMA she said she would have her supervisor call me back when she got in at 11:30. I didn't get a call.
Brad, I got to agree with you on this one, it was a dumb a$$ move on my part. Espcially since the new number is right on the card next to the words AMA Roadside. :-[

Tell that lady the AMA doesn't want to entertain any negative PR from an honest member because of a sticker that could be mis-interpreted easily enough.

They should know that your situation doesn't have any of the "red flags" as a con job..

I'm sorry AMA

When my battery died on me last fall, I was on a highway on the backside of the McDowell Mountains after dark. I pulled over to change from sunglasses to night glasses and the bike wouldn't crank. I was damn lucky I could get a cell signal. I pulled out my AMA card, and the number to call was 877-AMA-something my old cell phone didn't have the letters on the numbers. so I had to sit there, getting eaten alive by bugs alongside the road trying to figure out what AMA was (it's 262). By the time I figured it out and was waiting on hold with them, the battery rejuvenated itself enough to start the bike.

I should point out the battery died on my Kawasaki, not my H-D.

You didn't need to point that out. No one would have busted on you if the battery on your month old HD died.

Well Tim, you have a whole year to check your bike over for flats and battery problems, before the next rally. Amd memorize the correct phone number.
