Yukon/Al-Can
Have any of you had the chance to ride the Alaska Hwy between Dawson Creek, BC and Watson Lake, Yukon Territories? Lomax and I have been kicking around the idea of doing a 3000 mile loop this summer up through northern BC to the Yukon border via the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy to Watson Lake, YT....then running southbound on the Al-Can to Dawson Creek and down through Jasper NP before heading home again.
This is the mother of all road trips up in the NW and covers some of the most remote country and breathtaking scenery in all of North America! I have done some research on trip segments, lodging, fuel and the like, but nothing beats first-hand reports of a trip such as this. Nothing is in stone and we are still kicking the tires on this one, but anyone thinking they might like to join us on this run would be welcome to do so. If we do it, it will be a guys only trip...no spouses or GF's. Because of the distance and remoteness, we figure to need all the storage space for ourselves and can cover more miles riding solo. We're thinking the first week in July or thereabouts if we can pull it off. Anyways...please chime in if you have any advice or information that might help us in our preliminary planning. Below is the route we are considering... Yukon Loop http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...40547d7ecf&z=5
