I had some hand surgery to my left hand, the end of November, and have been laid up with it during the recovery and healing process since. I got the doc's OK to dump the hand brace last week, and yesterday I needed to make a trip the pharmacy up the street and decided to take the Nomad, and take advantage of decent weather and dry streets. It sure felt great to get out on the bike, even though it was only a 4 mile round trip. HOWEVER---my left hand said, "It's too early. I hurt when shifting." Sigh. I'll be glad when when I can ride without my left hand hurting when I work the clutch. Other than that, it was great. Unfortunately, shifting is a fact of life when riding a motorcycle, and my hand objected after the first couple of shifts. Soon, though, hopefully. Sigh!

I kind of know the feeling Greg. I had surgery on my throttle hand 12/30/10 and I was lucky enough to be able to ride last weekend. Probably against my Dr. advice but what the heck. Here's to a quick recovery!

This is coming from another person in recovery after a medical issue. Get well soon. It's been only a year since my whole thing started. Sorry but I have to blame the Dr.'s .....But I'm getting there and I'll be back at work soon I think. By spring I'm guessing.

Yeah, getting old sure is hard work. Not for the young--they just can't handle it yet. LOL!!
I've had the same thing done to both hands now. The right hand was injured when a helicopter I was flying in Vietnam went down. Didn't realize it at the time, but time and age caught with me, and my right hand just killed me when I was riding. Sure took the fun out of it, that's for sure. Now the left hand has raised its ugly thumb, so I had the procedure done just after Thanksgiving. Assuming it heals up and recovered the same way my right one did, I will be pain free in a couple months and riding will be much more pleasant. For all you guys putting up with surgery, get well quick and get back on the road. Cheers!!!! And thanks for the encouragements. |

Hopefully it will keep getting better, and soon you won't even notice it anymore.

Back in October 2008 had my left elbow and shoulder operated on. Now I am having the same problem with my right. Keep trying to put off surgery until November at which time I will be covered by Medicare.

The knee is improving slowly. I go to physio twice a week and do a lot of required exercise on the legs all the other days. But given the invasive operation that included drilling a hole right through the femur and one into the tibia along with other procedures that went along with all that.... and there was operation #1 before this one......I'm not surprised it's taking as long as it is to fully recover. My job requires me to be fairly active at times including running three flights of stairs, full squatting, kneeling. So I need to be close to if not 100%. when I rtn. to work. Thanks for asking.

But that's when I need to run at work ponch. Any other time it's pretty laid back. We love it when the press runs to it's optimum, because that's when we have to work the least,......or I should say,... the hardest. I mean .....you're always "work'in" if you're getting paid. RIGHT ???
