I hear you Nancy... I am taking six-months of therapy for my neck and lower-back now. Currently started my third week and it is improving.

I know what you mean about getting older Nancy. I started working with weights pre teen and continued until my early thirties. Today, my knees are shot from deep heavy squats, torn rotator cuff in right shoulder from heavy bench presses and I've been having intense lower back pain for a couple of years now. My neck started bothering me a couple of months ago and my diagnosis is bulging discs from too much computer work in the wrong type of chair. The steroids will help temporarily but you will have to continue going back for the injections. A friend who is a physical therapist highly reccomends self motivated neck excersies such as tilting your head back as far as possible and turning and holding the turn as far as you can helping with your hand on your chin. Twice a day for about 15 minutes and it does appear that it is helping my neck pain. Hope you are feeling better soon. Take care.

Yep that's it the steriods will be a temporary fix until the next flare up, hopefully they will not be too frequent. Hey...I'll give the neck exercises a try....will google neck exercises for my condition. thanks for the idea.

Being diabetic means that steroid shots are a no no for me. I had a shot in my back about eight years ago and it ran my sugar sky high.

I had both shoulders operated on in 1994 and then October 1, 2008 had my left elbow and left shoulder operated on.

The cushioning in my discs have all but deterioted completely. Arthritis is something I have to deal with on a daily basis. It is rough getting to the golden age.

My next 30 years I am going to take better care of myself.

I'm starting to get arthritis in the knuckle of my big toe. I played soccer well into my 40s and that particular part of my body had repeated trauma.

Whenever I start to get whiney, I remind myself that some people have it a lot worse. Hang in there, Nancy and any others with chronic pain.

Hi Nancy, I feel your pain. A few years ago I had a LOT of pain in my neck, upper back was knotting up, pain down my right arm and fingers going numb. Finally went to a chiropractor out of desperation. He ordered an MRI and found several bulged discs as well as a lack of the natual curve in my neck.

He gave me some exercises to help restore and maintain the cervical spine curvature and went to work with his manipulations and accupuncture. It worked and I have not had a problem since. I was sure that the only way to get beyond that pain was going to be surgery.

I thank God everyday for my health.

Good luck.

Hi Guys and Gals,

I never realized when I posted this how many other folks have some sort of periperal neuropathy problems. I have gotten several pm's from members with questions, advise and their 'war-stories'. So I thought I would recommend a couple of web sites below for more information on neuropathy. The most common cause of neuropathy is diabetes but other things can also cause it..ie....illness 'gullim-barre syndrome', shingles, truama, carpal tunnel etc... Hope the 2 sites below may be of interest to some of you. Ride safe ....btw the steriods are working I am feeling better. :)
