A good friends bike
I have a friend that owns an 800 Vulcan Classic. I was telling him of Dr. Zooms work on my Nomad and we got to wondering if the 800cc Vulcan motor has the same cam chain tensioners problem that the 1500cc has. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Sonny, look see if the 800 Vulcan has the removeable automatic cam chain tensioners Like the Nomad has. If it does then at some point the tensioner will be extended all the way out.

Thanks Jim and Bobby, aka Dr. Zoom. TC , Bobby has been more help to me than he will ever know. Kinda like a real MD. If you don't die on the table and the Doc don't read the obits daily, he really never knows if the patient made it or went off some where and died.
Thanks for your time

I've owned the 800 and the cam chain extenders aren't a weakness as it is on the 1500/1600. In fact I'll go out on a limb and say it's more of a bullet proof engine than it's larger sibling. The only drawback to the engine if there is one is that the valve clearances use shims and aren't hydraulic. You have to check the clearances periodically. That being said, it's rock solid and can actually make some decent power as it can really rev (8K for sure). 55-60HP at the rear wheel is very possible and it's on a bike that's 250lbs lighter than a Nomad.
