I don't know what tht tach is. The coil 1 is left side of the bike as seated. The black wire (-) is outter most, not that you can snake the wire to the bucket well that that way.

Another wire from the tack need to go to the amber parking lamp circuit. Perhaps if this tack has a light it can go to the same wire, unless you plan to switch the wire for the tach light.

Then the tack needs a ground, which there is in the bucket as black with a yellow tracer, as ACC circuit.

Is micro tach a name brand?

The way the features are worded in the link above"Simple 3 wire installation (Ignition, Ground, and Signal)" , the "Ignition" would be switched power, "Ground" would be ground, and "Signal" would be to the negative(-) side of the coil.

Ohhhhhh If you can stand the blinkin thing go fer it. I just hate digital read out tachs. The numbers change constantly and that drives my up the wall.

If it has just 3 wires the hot one is probably best located in the lamp bucket to red with blue, which is running lamps. The ground is also there as black with yellow.

If yer really sneaky you can get at coil 1 and the all solid black wire on it, with out taking off the tank.

I am not that sneaky.

had the power and ground thing figured but the signal from the coils did not work. nads are dual fire and the tach was sposed to work without an adapter...doesnt. went to gadgets site and saw how to make an adapter for less and will try that route. this tach only shows first two numbers, have to add zeros to get reading. mounted it on my triple tree so i dont have to see if i dont want. getting to coils easy without removing tank. thanks to all.
