Rain Gear
I have Frogg Toggs "Road Toads", and a heavier set I bought from Cycle Gear. The only time I have ever used the Frogg Toggs was on the Custer trip last year. They worked superbly! I don't have many opportunities to ride in the rain around here.

Rain Gear
DaBull....
Tricia and I have this two-piece Carhartt Rain Gear. As a native north-westerner who was a fishing guide for 14 years.....I know rain gear....!! This stuff is top notch and impervious to rain. Comfortable, breathable.....and does not leak a drop... ![]() We just rode 300 miles from Everett, WA to Kelowna, BC last Saturday in a constant downpour. We arrived as dry as a bone! If you want stuff you will only buy once.....buy this. You can keep your Frogg Toggs and all that other cheap-ass rain gear that's out there (no offense to anybody). Carhartt has made quality stuff for a long time. Spend the dough and get something that will actually work when you need it to. Nothing sucks worse than getting wet from rain gear that don't work.....this stuff really does! "KawaNOW Rider Tested" in the toughest of conditions....it has my NW stamp of approval.... ![]() On a ride last year....I accidentally burned about a quarter-sized hole in the right inside leg due to getting too close to the pipe. It has no effect, but when I get a chance...I might sew a patch of leather over that spot to help keep it from getting worse... Rain Gear
The wife and I both have the Road Toggs. We rode through 14 miles of heavy downpour Saturday afternoon and both of us were wet from the neck down to the waist about 3" wide where the jacket zips and snaps. I was also wet from the knees down to the short rubber boots from the front tire. Don't think I'll invest in Frog Toggs again. I know my wife won't.

Rain Gear
Now Derry, you know that I have ridden in monsoons and such. We have Wally-World what ever they are called suits. They work fine, a tad warm once the rain stops but it is tolerable.

Rain Gear
Derry,
They do have a bit of an inner lining....but it depends on the temp. In cooler temps, I will wear my Gerbing heated liner underneath, and the wife wears her leather jacket under hers. In a warm rain...it will work fine! Either way, we both keep warm and dry! Plus....what you see around our necks in the pic is a pullover facial Windskarph.....similar to this.... http://www.toesteesocks.com/store/product55.html

Barney Frogg Toggs here! Mine have worked well. If I were to buy again, I would get the newer version also.

Cindy and I have Frogg Toggs, not the cute Barney ones Amy has, ours are light grey.
Yes I would buy them again. They will get a hole in them if you get to close to the exhaust but apparently so will the Carhartt ;)

Rain Gear
Hey Kris you cut RickyBoy out of the picture I took???. He is going to have to talk to his agent for sure.
Your raingear looks great BUT I love my Frogg Toggs. I have had the same gear for 4 years now and they have not let me down. I like them because they are light and stow easily. I do have the leg protector I bought in Sturgis in '06 and that prevents leg burn. I am looking at the newer Road Toads as a replacement but these will go another season.

What is the advantage of the newer version of the Frog Toggs?

Rain Gear
I have a Power Trip all season coat with a rain liner that keeps me dry. I buy a pair of rain pants every couple of years because I rip out the crotch. I like to think that pant technology hasn't caught up with my anatomy.
I think I'll invest in the Carhartt pants from here on out. Looks like money well spent. |
