Fell into a sweet deal on a travel trunk

Wow, my first week with my 2000 Nomad and I found out a guy I know that used to work for my employer had a Nomad a year or two ago and he still had a travel trunk that he had bought for it. I spotted him delivering to a house across from where I had a stop and we got to talking and he told me about it. Well, today I saw him in his truck while I was in town on my bike and we met up at the loading terminal in the rail yard. He told me that he would be home by 4:30 pm. I had to get my bike registered in VT so I told him I would stop by his house when I got back into the area again. I then drove about 40 miles out to Rutland, VT and registered my Nomad and then came back a different way to Lebanon, NH where he lives. He showed a couple pictures of the Nomad he had with the trunk on it. Wow, what a nice bike! Red and black with gold striping. He got out the travel trunk. It had been painted to match the bike. It wasn't a full-sized type, but it was big enough for me. I offered him $200 and it was mine. We removed my backrest/luggage rack and installed it. Wow, does it look super. The passenger backrest pad looks kind of dorky, but I can take that off and mount the Mustand backrest pad from my Valkyrie. Here is what it looks like mounted on my bike right now.

That looks great! Any idea what brand of trunk it is? I'm looking for one myself.

That actually looks like a very well-made trunk from the photos.

Hooligan nailed it; it's a Champion Sidecar tour box. Nice and roomy inside. I even fit all the parts of the backrest and luggage rack disassembled and a shorty helmet in it.

Nice deal on the trunk but now you have to spend a lot of money to get the bike painted to match ;)

That was an outstanding deal you got. I had never heard of Champion Sidecar, just googled them and found the box. Yikes! They are very proud of them.

That looks great RC. I like the way these Nads look with tour pack and fairing. Maybe someday...
