Katydids or Buzzing Brake??

I went for a little ride this evening at dusk. I noticed that I have a "buzz" somewhere near the rear brake. I recently changed the rear pad and only have about fifty miles on the rear pad; most of it in town. The noise is there regardless of being under use or free wheeling. The tone of the noise changes when the rear brake is applied, but returns upon release. It does not increase in frequency at higher RPM. The sound is similar to a katydid; just a constant buzz. The anti-rattle clip seemed in good order. Any thoughts on this one?

I bet you are using EBC pads, mine do the exact same thing ever since I replaced them, but only when they are applied.
Perhaps there is something rubbing on the brake disc from when you installed the new pads. or something is loose or mounted off position. Take a close look or even jack up the bike and turn the wheel by hand to see if you can locate the noise.
Also if you have a ridge on your brake disc it may take a few applications to wear the pad down a bit before it dissapears.

I put new EBC pads on the front a few hundred miles ago. I have the same noise.

The pads are OEM, as I couldn't find a less expensive pad with the same performance characteristics. I used a little emery cloth on the rotor around the worn area. I tried rotating the tire and wheel with the bike up on a jack and did not notice any noise. I may have to use it a little more and see what happens.

+1 with Ringadingh on the noise when applied. It made the noise with the original pads and I thought that it would go away with new ones but it didn't. I think they are EBC.

Same noise here. So used to it I would be worried if I did not hear it.

Haven't had that problem so can't help. But then again maybe I do have that problem and can't hear it. There are some advantages to not hearing certain frequencies. High pitched sounds I never hear.
