hey guys
The 99's and some of the year 2000 Nomads came out with a plastic oil pump drive gear (POG). These were very troublesome in that they eventually (25k-up roughly) had the teeth strip off leaving riders on the side of the road with no oil pressure. Up until just this year, Kawasaki was replacing these gears under warranty. At least they were paying labor and some of the parts to fix it. Those bikes that ran longer without oil pressure and further damage resulted, the owner was stuck paying for the extra parts. It requires splitting the case for MaKaw to do this repair. The JOG (Judges Oil Gear) is a steel replacement gear made by a guy named Judge that owners could use to replace the POG and not wait to be stranded beside the road. Its a pre-emptive repair. This replacement can be done easily in a day or so and does not require splitting the case. Quicker if you've done one before. It can also be used to replace the POG after failure but Judge told me its surely better to replace the POG before failure to save a lot of grief sitting beside the road. :) Mike

JOG for sale
Judge is Bob Oglesby. He is one of if not the best Vulcan mechanic around.
Not only is the 'JOG' his, but so are the thrust washers or 'Judges Washers' that keep your clutch spring from wearing out early. MaKaw incorporated his design, kinda, into the 1600. MT
