Progressive Insurance Question

Do any of your have Progressive insurance? If so have you ever had a claim and how did they handle your claim?

I have State Farm for my car but decided to go with Progressive as I was told that Progressive is one of only two or three insurance companies that write motorcycle insurance. On my last bike I had State Farm and when I broke my leg and turned in a claim I found out they don't cover you for medical. Most companies will insure your bike but they actually buy coverage from companies like Progressive that do actually have motorcycle policies. Another company that may actually have its own motorcycle policy is Geico. I think I am correct in this.

But would like to know if you have dealt with Progressive. This is my first time with them and they cover everything. Includes medical.

Progressive Insurance Question

Gene I have progressive with medical I am not sure what the limits or on the medical I know when my wife fell off the bike they paid all the bills very fast with no problems but I think they told me it was only good up to $5000.00 full coverage with medical here in Mississippi is $357.00 per year but they go up just a little every year but then I have a bad driving record no tickets or wrecks in the last 30 years except when my wife fell off and that wasn't my fault

Progressive Insurance Question

This may come off as a dumb question, but If you are paying for medical insurance, why would you also want medical on you motorcycle? I understand the idea of first and secondary coverage, but wont you have to pay two deductibles to take advantage of this? See like over kill to me... Please enlighten me.

Progressive Insurance Question

i had progressive insurance when i totaled my 2006 suzuki
v-strom.the service was not only excellent but very fast.thier
claims guy drove 70 miles to visit me in the hospital on day one,
then wrote me a check 48 hours after the accident.the check was
for $500. less then i paid for the bike new.it had only 1300 miles
on it.they also paid another $1000.in medical payment to the hospital.to answer jared's question there is no deuctible on medical payments on car or motorcyle insurance policys.the down
side to all of this is that they did raise my rates to the point where i had no choice but to get insurance with another company.
the accident by the way was totally my fault[speed kills].

No copay or deductibles on MedPay or Personal Injury Protection on an auto policy.

Progressive Insurance Question

I do and 2 claims. The first claim was for a crash and a lot of parts were ruined, plus my wife needed 3 stitches. At that time i discover the pillion was covered for medical but not me!

Check what you bought.... I didn't need any medical for that, but I did break 3 ribs.

They did drive out 92 miles one way to see about us, some where in the 30 days it took for the bike to be fixed by a dealer. That dealer had no business being anything mechanical period. They broke stuff I didn't in the fixing. They cheated Progressive on a recall part, and charged twice to pick up the bike, the first time their truck and trailer were over loaded in the first place.

Progressive didn't seem to care about the over pay.

I was not convinced the bike was fixed, as when I went to get it I got down on the ground, broken ribs n all and found the rear wire harness rubbing the rear tire, and much insulation missing.

I directed that fix myself, but I refised to sign off, and was happy about that as other problems came to be from Pine Ride SD all the way to Cal, where I found another problem the day the Progressive folks showed up. They cut another check then.

I have $1,000.00 over value, and still do, but that crash cost me added rates, which is typical.

Then that bike all mint again was stolen in West Virginia out of a brand new enclosed trailer. It took about 3 weeks for that check to happen, and I had to speak with the progressive people about the contents in my saddle bags.

At first that was not going to be any part of the settlement, but I asked the guy what his hobby was, and he said fly fishing. I was able to convince him that if he sold his car with all his fly fishing gear, boots wadders, sun glasses, rods and reels it wasn't a part of the car..

At this point I am 5 years out of the crash, which was what increased my rates, so I will ask about any reduction since I have no claims since.

Last Aug I hit a jeep that hit a moose, but didn't file, since I can do a fender sometime. All the damage was just that fender.

So I like progressive and won't move away at this time anyway.

Progressive Insurance Question

I have Progressive and have been with them for about 12 years. I have had one claim on a truck but nothing on any of bikes. On the claim on the truck, they came out to my office to look at the damage, made an estimate and cut me a check with no haggling. The didn't even raise my rates as it was the other guys fault. They went after his insurance and got their money back. They have always been good to work with and very quick to adjust the policy when I changed vehicles. I would recommend them especially over AllState here in Texas.

Progressive Insurance Question

Thanks guys for all the feedback on this. Sounds like I went the right way. I had State Farm with my last bike but they don't carry medical on their policy. My Progressive does have medical coverage.

Utah it doesn't cost much to add it to your motorcycle coverage and both with pay if you have hospital bills from a spill. If you have coverage at work or whatever both will pay. Usually one insurance doesn't cover everything and the other one will take care of it.
