Baxter vs. Kawasaki Motors

Did anyone receive their class action suit papers today? A guy named Keith Baxter is suing Kawasaki because of what he alleges is intentional tampering with the odometer causing it to incorrectly register the actual miles driven. The suit covers 1600 Nomads and Classics in the 2005 - 2009 models purchased on or after 11/30/2005 and not later than 12/31/2008. His suit is for $1500 in damages. Received my papers in the mail today.

I received the same notice in the mail today. With all the truly catastrophic things going on in the world, this seems pretty trivial. Be interesting to know what other law suits this guy Baxter has filed. Maybe hot coffee from McDonald's? In any event, my odometer tracks 100% with my GPS so I'm not losing any sleep over this horrific problem.

My odometer is off but I've never lost any sleep over it. If my memory serves me, I think it is 5% fast.

Got nothing too. You wouldn't get anything out of a class action suit to be worth the effort.

I received my letter today but my odometer is ok with the gps, but like everyone else the speedo is off.

Got mine today as well, on an '06. Don't know what to make of it, if anything. The lawsuit is on the odometer, not the speedometer, which we all know is slightly inaccurate.
My only thoughts are: If the odometer was off by 5%, wouldn't this cause my warranty to expire 5% faster?

Factory warranty is 2 years / unlimited mileage. Kawasaki Extended Warranty is 4 more years with unlimited mileage. I suppose the only problem it could present is a little more mileage on the odo when you are ready to sell or trade. No big deal IMO.

Went out and checked the mail. There it was.

My odometer is about 3% fast with the stock tire. With my car tire it is now about 7% slow but
the speedometer is right on (it was 10% fast with stock tire.)

Got mine today as well. I wonder how many companies know about the odometer and possibly the spedometer being off and guaged it that way on purpose. With the technology we have nowadays you know it shouldn't happen. (Not as far off as the bikes are). It's beena long time since I had the stock tire but I think the odometer was off more than 5%.

My odometer is about 3% fast with the stock tire.
