Good motorcycle magazines
I'm looking into subscribing to a few motorcycle magazines. Which ones do you guys recommend and which ones should I avoid?
Thanks!

Good motorcycle magazines
Well I have always enjoyed Cycle World, but of course they are not a V-Twin specific magazine. If you want to see pictures of half-naked women messing up an otherwise perfectly good motorcycle, Cycle World would probably not be a good choice, as they don't do the half-naked women photos.
I subscribed to it as a kid in school, which was back in the mid-80's, and my dad would always get grumpy when it came in the mail, because 'those bikes are not anything you're ever going to be buying'. |

Good motorcycle magazines
I have been reading motorcycle magazines for years. The only one that I subscribe to and read every month is "Rider".

I subscribe to "Rider," as being the best of the general interst motorcycling magazines. For good tech stuff, honest model evaluations and riding safety, "Motorcycle Consumer News." known as "MCN," is a great magazine. It's entirely subscriber suppoerted and has no advertisements in it. Pretty much unbiased opinions. For cruiser riders, "Motorcycle Cruiser" is a great magazine which I like a llot. A friend subscribes to it, and gives me his after he's done, but I'm thinking of subscribing myself. For Motorcycle touring and travel, "Roadbike" and "Roadrunner" are great. "Roadbike" has lots of custom bike, cruisers and other included.

I subscribe to Rider, Motorcycle Cruiser, Hot Bike Baggers, Roadbike, Cycle World, Motorcyclist, and American Motorcyclist (through my AMA membership).
Cycle World and Motorcyclist are the most generic, and frankly contain a lot of content I couldn't care less about. Hot Bike Baggers is 99% HD and 1% metric, but they do have some gorgeous custom bikes. Roadbike used to be All Metric Roadbike, but they appear to have bowed to the 800 pound gorilla and now feature Harleys. Rider is very good, although a little too adventure oriented for my taste. They have some of the best writers you'll find. Motorcycle Cruiser is probably my favorite and has a lot of metric content.

Not to bad Road Runner mostly sport touring Don't like Hot Bike Baggers all HD crap Cycle World mostly crotch rocket junk Motorcycle Consumer News has lots of specs and road tests but nothing I am interested in so far. Will probaly not renew.

I just got a deal in the mail from easyriders publications offering a one year subscription to any of their mags for $20 each. I chose V-twin cause it is not just HD and it is more about the bikes than the boobs. Also got entered into their annual bike giveaway. Grand prize is a 2010 HD and a $10K custom paint job. That would be cool.

I read a lot of Motorcycle Cruiser reviews online and have always found them well written. Maybe that is the direction I'll go. The only down side is it's a by-monthly magazine.

Of all the motorcycle magazines I subscribe to, the most informative to me are Rider and Motorcycle Consumer News. These two have the best balance of tech, trip reviews and common sense advice. (equipment, safety, medical) I have to agree with CJ as far as Cycle World and Motorcyclist. Mostly sport bike oriented and too much fluff. I can do without both of these.

I'm spending more time on the net, and will let some of my subscriptions lapse.
One that has pissed me off lately is Motorcycle Cruiser. They change editors too often, and the last one seemed like an idiot that looked like a 70's porn star. They just changed to another editor, but by them I was already annoyed. I subscribe to Cycle World just to keep reading Peter Egan's column, and Rider or Motorcyclist just to keep reading Clement Salvadori. |

I prefer Rider best and Motorcycle Cruiser next. Motorcyclist is the only other one I received and I have cancelled.

I let all the subscriptions lapse as they expired. I found it hard to find an honest review of anything. Since they usually review their advertisers products its hard to be unbiased.I seem to check whatever I need on the net more than anywhere else.

I get Rider which is pretty good. I get Cycle World (only because I got a great renewal price) because it's emphasis is on street bikes. I got Motorcycle Consumer News for a while, but they are a little pricey because of no advertising, but most of the content did not meet my needs. I would say most of the previous comments are very accurate.
