T'was Dan's Night Before Court

T'was the night before Court, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

Dan edited his tapes with the sincerest of care, in hopes that Guzman would show and be there.

The judge was nestled all snug in his bed, while visions of a calm court danced in his head.

And Officer Guzman in her uniform and cap; had just settled her brain for a long winter’s nap.

Yet over at Dan’s house there arose such a clatter, as Dan rehearsed his defense as to him it would matter.

Away to his videos he flew like a flash, but tore open his wallet to make sure he had cash.

Dan rehearsed his questions only he would know, to give Guzman no chance and answers she’d blow.

When, what to Dan’s wondering eyes should appear, but the state’s statute with regard to head gear.

With a bit of study, so intense and so slick; Dan knew in a moment he would make Guzman sick.

More rapid than eagles, Dan's defense it came; as he whistled, and shouted, and called Guzman a name!

“Now Guzman! Now Man-body! Now, anything but Vixen!
On Vomit, on Stupid, on Honor, on fixen’… this injustice to mankind, to everyone and all… fix my injustice your honor, it isn’t too small!

As the dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly; when Dan meets an obstacle, he mounts his Nomad and gives it a try.

So up to the court-house Dan’s Nomad flew; with the bike full of videos, questions, and more than anyone knew.

And then, in a twinkling, there stood Dan with his “proof”; a bad boy he wasn’t, this wasn’t a spoof.

As the judge drew in his head, and was turning around; the frightful vision of Dan would soon abound.

He was dressed all in leather, from his head to his foot; and his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.

A bundle of defense he had flung on his back; and he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow; and a beard on his chin… this just wasn’t to be so.

The stump of a pen Dan held tight in his teeth; and his thoughts encircled his head like a wreath.

He was going to tell Guzman just how it is… no judge would differ in thought to his.

Dan slung questions to Guzman; no points too small… the judge pondered reason, and thought he’d seen it all.

As Guzman stood firmly her ground, Dan grew angered, and on the desk he would pound.

His reason and logic was lost in defense… to the judge and bailiff; “this doesn’t make sense”.

The judge spoke not a word, but went straight to his work; and filed every charge he could find for this jerk.

And laying his finger aside of his nose; and giving a nod, up from the desk his head rose!

The judge sprang for his gavel; to his court he gave a whistle; and away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

He was heard to exclaim; that this case was out of sight; the defendant is GUILTY and to ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!!!

(Just humoring you Dan... just humoring you. Good luck on your court case! )

Made me laugh GL :)

You missed the part where I get held in contempt of court, and sent to jail.

That was freekin' priceless Greg!!!

Good luck manana Dan... Argue intent I'm tellin ya bro. "Legislative Intent" is real big in the legal world of criminal torts. What was the intent of eyewear? doesn't the windshild provide most of the protection and a cracked visor behind that still provides better face and eye protection than a non windshiled 3/4 helmeted rider?

Too funny!
Greg, you may have missed your calling. I know some songwriters and lyricists pulling down some pretty serious coin from publishing rights. :)
