handlebar risers, what length?
i am looking into fitting some risers to my 99 nomad, but i am not sure wether to go for 3.5" or 4.5" risers. i am only 5-7/170cm in height, some feedback into what length risers you guys are running would be appreciated. cheers, james.
ps the risers im looking at are a direct replacement (not just a spacer) and have pull back of 3.8cm. i am happy with the handlebar height but would like to lean back a bit more for comfort. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

I have the big PhatRisers II on my Nomad, and the smaller PhatRisers on my Triumph Bonneville. But, to get the "lean back" comfort you are talking about, I found that I needed a riders backrest.

madcaw, I think you are better offf with the 3 1/2" you won't have to change cables.
I believe the 4 1/2" would make you need longer cables. As wandere says, get a backrest also. Makes a world of difference.

I inquired at my dealer about this same topic. They told me that I could do 4" risers and not need to change anything else. hope this helps.

handlebar risers, what length?
I just put Chuckster's 2 1/2" (63.5 mm) risers on my '99 on Saturday evening. It definitely changes the riding position. I wouldn't want anymore "rise and run". A backrest makes a big difference; love my Grasshopper. I was pretty comfortable on the way to work this morning.

thanks for the replies guys, looks like i will go for the 3.5" version. as much as i would love a backrest i really love the look of my bike running solo without one, however i might look into one in the future for longer rides. cheers, james.

madcow, I'm also 5-7 and went with the 4.5"
I think you'll need the same to get the bars where you want them. Cables were no problem, however, you will need to "lightly" pull the slack out of the brake cable. You also can cut the cable tie under the triple tree and pick up more slack. All of the Phat risers I see on Nomads have all been 4.5" Hope this helps.
