1600 Nomad trunk
Am looking for a large trunk to go on to an '08 1600 Nomad, hopefully one that I can add lights to for extra collision avoidance. Seen one at Scootworks that looked large enough, but no lights. Any suggestions?

Buy one and put lights on it.
Oops, I forgot to mention that Scootworks claims HD accessories will fit their Supertrunk III.

Will a Cobra luggage rack support the scootworks III trunk? That's what is on it now.

1600 Nomad trunk
Saw a smaller one by "matzuka", a "VIP" trunk on Ebay, and it comes complete with a lit spoiler, turn & brake lights, and it's dimensions are only slightly smaller, and would, they claim, fit on the Cobra rack already in place. Is quality an issue, or should I put off procurement until funds are set aside for the Scootworks III with HD lights & a sturdy mount? These parts are getting expensive quickly, as painting is still a cost to be figured into whatsoever trunk system I get. It's nice to hear other opinions here on a forum, instead of getting something, and just end up wanting what you don't have, or shelling out big bucks for something that's overkill.

and most hard touring packs can't use a rack with the OEM sissy bar and pad either. The rack holds the pack and the pack becomes the pad for your pillon to lean on..

Get an HD tour pak they are the best in my opinion as far as solidly built and holding capacity.

The mutuza trunks look nice but they are very thin sidewalls bend very easy I had one and didn't really like it. JMHO

I too would suggest a Harley tour pack with a Wompus rack, and the Ultra Classic type has the tail lights.

I have the Scootworks Supertrunk III. I added a 14.7" flexible LED array
http://www.chromeglow.com/catalog.as...showprevnext=1 with a Dual Element Circuit to get run, brake, and turn lights. While the Scootworks trunk is a good quality product (and Harley Road King accessories do fit it), it does have 2 issues to consider: 1. It's hinged on the right side, so it opens "uphill". This is an issue in particular for Nomads with the stock kickstand. 2. The inside of the trunk is raw fiberglass, unlike the Harley or Premeux trunks. I put a Harley trunk liner in the bottom, so that's not a big deal. However, the top-opening pockets on the Harley top liners are upside-down because the Scootworks trunk opens from the opposite side. If I had to do it over again, I'd either get a Harley trunk or a Premeux trunk - http://www.premeux.com. I'd probably lean toward the Premeux since it is painted to match your bike, is already drilled for the backrest and (optional) luggage rack, comes with a chromed mounting bracket (no need to buy another bracket), and Harley accessories will fit it. It will wind up being very close to the price of a Harley trunk, but with much less hassle. |

The link to the Premeux site was my fault - I didn't enclose it in url /url tags, so the period at the end of the sentence became part of the link - it's correct now in my original post. It looks like Premeux is in the process of putting up a new site, as many of the links don't work at the moment. For a definitive status on Premeux products, I recommend emailing Serge at Serge@premeux.com. |

The Premeux sight has been on and off sometimes for a couple years now. Just keep checking on it time to time and one day it will be there.
