What's the concenses as to where I can get a good price and delivery on tires? I'm looking at the Cobra radial for the front.

Dealer wants $95 ride in ride out. $20 if you bring in the tire. I figure I'd get it online and bring the b@stard in myself!!

Thanks,

I got mine from americanmototire.com but I think CJ had a cheaper source.

I used Dennis Kirk for the Dunlop radial up ft.. Pretty fast service.. Getting the ft tire off is cake... Pull the calipers and wrap in clean rags. Pull the axel and drop the tire..

My rear was on blocking and the pedal was tied down.

I don't know how Cobra marks the light spot, but find it and mark it better, also mark the wheel on both sides in rotation so the changer has a better chance to get it on right.

Since i did mine by hand I set the axel in place and clamped it to jack stands, to spun it 50 times, each time marking mid night. It stopped all random, so i didn't use weights or beads at all. With apx 1,200 miles on it i still find no ballance error. Not even after hitting the jeep.

Brad, I purchased both of my Cobras from these folks. They are very good to deal with, decent shipping price and they ship quick. I haven't found anyone online to beat their price.

I've bought motorcycle tires from 2 online sources and had a good experience with both of them:

This is what is used on VN 2000's

So far I am in love with it, that one thing I can't tell you is how long it might last..

I don't even find damage from hitting the jeep and the fender was all rippled in the crimp when 6 guys pulled the bike out from under the jeep by hand. I started the bike and rode to the road edge before i could get a hammer to peel the fender off the tire and still i find no dig markings on the tire!..

I was thinking this is gonna gouge the tire up some... The ripples crimp was like wood cutting chisels aimed into the tire !

It is 100 out so double check for the right size, but that is the tire i bought.. The free flowing roll effect is noticable.

In Trips and Events Patrick M put up pics in a photobucket slide show. My system won't do that, but i changed the address to plain old photobucket and can see stills of my woods. if you look at these, while no roads show, I am sure you still can tell there is no straight roads around here just the same.

If this tire runs better than 13,000 miles it will be the next tire on my ft end... If not I might try Cobra. I think this may run longer than Cobra... not sure, but it just might..

I know it is a wicked good match for the Sp 5000!

I've had good luck with South West Moto Tires. Plus their prices are hard to beat.

http://www.swmototires.com/

FREE GROUND SHIPPING
with the purchase of two or more tires.

I spent just under $300 for Dunlop E3 radials

I am still running the original Bridgestones on my bike, but I only have 3550 miles on the bike and tires. So far I have had no problems with the tires. No noticeable tire wear and no bumpy or shaky ride. I can't complaine about them. Not saying that is what I will purchase when I have to down the road. Just saying so far I have had no complaints at all. Runs straight and true if I happen to take my hands off the handle bars.

I bought front tires for both of my bikes from American Motorcycle Tire and can't complain about anything dealing with them.

AlabamaNomadRider, had I known of you before you bought the bike, I would have begged up to have the dealer replace the stock tires before you took the bike off the show room floor..

I just know more about these bricks than you do from experience.

More or less, give or take 500 miles more you are about to find out the tires whine in corners.

Probably you have alreadu found out they ping rocks on a gravel road..

They will do, just not very well. When you get anything different, cobras, dunlops, or go ct with a radial ft, the bike will become like a new bike all over again. It will roll better, be more stable, do better on pained surfaces, wire grate bridges if you have them, wood deck bridges if you have them, and corner nicer in a general way.

Bricks will do, but are the worst tires for a really nice bike the factory could mount.
Of course had I known you and you had done this, you wouldn't get the lesson that everyone else gets.
