Pointing out the obvious

I road the Nomad to a nearby town this AM to pick up a few things at the market. I noticed a nice looking black late model Chevy 4X4 behind me for several blocks. The 50 something couple pulled up in the parking spot next to me. The passenger side window went down the dude behind the wheel says "Nope" the lady sitting next to him looks at me and says "That's not a Harley." I said "Nope" She said "They are beautiful." Then they left the parking lot. That's the only reason they came into the parking lot to point out the incredibly obvious? I wanted to say "Nope and that's not a Range Rover and you are not Jessica Simpson." The only thing a can figure out is. It's really hot today and it was one of the rare times I rode without my helmet, and I had a do-rag on to block the sun. That must have made them think I was on a HD. I have thought about doing a debadge on the bike but the more I get those kind of comments the more I want people to know I am not riding a Harley. I am and will always be very proud of my Vulcan Nomad.

Pointing out the obvious

I have been asked several times what kind of Harley I am riding. I just reply it is a Nomad and let it go at that. One guy last year at Crater Lake Oregon that ask me that, thought that I meant that I was a member of the Nomad M/C. He said that was cool with him but what kind of bike was I riding. Such is life!

I saw a picture of a bike with an air brushed logo on the tank that said "HARDLY DAVIDSON".

" Nope the Harley hasn't got NICE floor boards for the pillon!"

and a heck of a lot less bang for the BUCK...

My take is she lost a bet.. and it was a question... but that's just my take.

When I get a compliment on my Nomad I try to be just as nice and appreiciative, and I don't knock another bike, unless it's in jest. Nomad1600 and I took a ride on the Blue Ride Parkway last week and we stopped for gas and a nice lady got off the back of a Harley and came over and told us how pretty the bikes were. :) The same thing happen when we stopped at an observation point with a family. The guy's wife ask us if we were Hell's Angles. I don't know how she got that impression! ??? I reckon it was a compliment.

While stopped for gas one time. I had one say "that's a beautiful piece of American Iron, do you ride with one of those motorcycle gangs?"

I replied "yes it is, and I ride with the Over the Hill Gang."

Of course my reply went over her head .

I've had similar experiences a couple of times at stoplights, etc. One guy was explaining to me at a stoplight how cool that bike would look with some wide whitewall tires. I told him I was working on that!

Mine being badgeless you would be surprised at how many people pull up and say "Nice Harley". I just say thanks, but its a Kawasaki, and smile. My dream has always been to own an Ultra Classic, but after owning my Nomad, I think I will save my money for something else. I personally think my bike looks better than a Harley, but the ultimate for me would be to get a front fairing like Ringadingh's. That would make my bike complete.

I get alot of compliments on my bike, even some from HD riders. I think that the people that truly love to ride don't really care what you ride.

Where was Bill Engval when you need him....

"Here's your sign"
I love the way you wrote this. It sounds like they actually pulled in to tell YOU that you are not riding a HD.
