I hit a jeep last night that hit a moose!

I put this here because ain't no one gonna beleive this one.

No one hurt other than the jeep driver got a tiny nick on his finger from flyin glass.

The jeep is a total, so is the probable 1,200 BULL MOOSE, and my nomad needs a new ft fender and a small 15 bucks a set chrome lamp from wally world.

My wife is STILL FINE..

The cops were so confused that no one I mean NO ONE was hurt after shooting the moose 5 times they roared off North looking for another moose, jeep, nomad wreck. but came right back when none could be found.

A local showed up with a carpenters claw hammer! How he knew I needed one I will never know. That fender was down hard on the new ft tire I it took 6 people to drag the bike off the road.

I didn't even go down and neither did the bike... Just like bein stuck in a pedal bike rack.

My wife is sitting next me to me giggling over all these events.

The 2 guys in the jeep lived some 2 + hours away, and so with out much choices I had the cops bring them here to where we live to sort out what was best for them.

Being in the boonies with no transport in the mid of night is no fun.

Offered a couch and the guest room, but they prefered going back nawth to the Red Jacket Inn..

I might see if I can get the moose head. Nice rack on it, and I like that sot of thing with the skull intact.

How much super glue will that take to mount on the Nomad?

Your quite lucky that no one was hurt, most times around here someone gets killed when that happens. A year or so ago a cop hit one with his cruiser and it killed him. What about getting the whole moose, thats a lot of meat for the freezer. Whenever a deer or moose get hit here, just about every second vehicle stops and asks for the carcass. Ive brought home a couple roadkills over the years when Ive been in the right spot at the right time.

Wow, well sounds like the moose is the biggest loser in that dance.......the mount might make the front end of your bike a little heavy though.

Use the antlers for handlebars Mac. Im sure youd get a lot of strange looks. You would probably look like Jerimiah Johnson on a motorcycle. ;)

In a bit I will go back and see if I can get the head with a saw.. a chain saw.. I don't know where the cop shot the moose 5 times with a pump 12 ga.. I didn't dare ask what kinds of shells he fired.

I want that whole head antlers on the skull fer sartin!

The meat could be iffy since 1 the moose lived to drag its hind end off into the swamp, and now may have laid there since 1 am.
I know for a fact atleast one rear leg was smashed, and the cop said both were.

And Trip yeah what usually happens is the cage runs partly under the moose legs and the moose body crushes the cage roof.
In turn this brings death by broken neck to occupants of the vehical, and this was classic, except the roof didn't crush as far as normal, in this case about 12 to 14 inches came down and in.

The other most common thing to cage occupants is they are killed going thru the windshield. These guys were damnned lucky and so were we.

The wind shield is shattered.. The ft bumper grill and hood are total toast.

I did no damage to the jeep other than a black tire mark. My inpact was maybe 2 mph, but the jeep was down in the head till 1,200 pound of bull moose rolled off, then I was clamped as in a vise, and couldn't pull the bike free.

There should have been 4 DOAS there by rights.. The cops were astounded.

When I woke up this morning my right wrist is a little stiff, making it harder to typo

With that kind of luck that close at hand....maybe you should go buy a lotto ticket.... the gov could use their cut of the money if you win.

I've never dealt with Moose, but I have heard horror stories of what they can do to a Semi even. Glad you are ok. Check E-Bay for a fender best spot I can tell ya for that one.

Well I found the moose back about 1/4 mile in the swamp in a pretty place. I would have to say that in night, with extreme heavy cover the officer was incorrect about the size. I would say this moose is about 900 pounds. Younger male in new velvet antlers.

The setting was such and i wasn't huntig that I clipped a bit of hair for a locket, and blended the cut.. Not a trophy, but a rememberance.

Remember i am a wacko nut case and don't live in your fast lane world. I just happen to have motorcycles in common with all you guys.

My wife Gwyn got a few pics of the Moose, one of the 81 feet of rubber which prooves i tried like hell to stop, no jeep tire marks at all, as that poor guy had no clue what happened.

And one of the ft fender. I discovered the right lower chrome bracket is bent a little bit, but I can fix that.

fenders are out of sight $$$ I have good ins but i don't think the fender meets my deductable enough to bother with them.

i wonder if I really need to tell them if I don't want anything? Any one know?

The staties gave me a form to fill out which only states that I have Ins and other specicis to prove it, which goes to the DMV.

I am not certain I must by law fill that out either.

I wasN'T sited for a thing and neither was the jeep driver.

I don't understand E-bay and money well as everyone knows, so if a fender does come and one of you would buy it I will send a check.

If someone wanted I would pay for the service and in advance.

I use a computer to help others if and when I can, and do a few sites, and e-mail. That's it..

When I made Trade Silver I sent it to anyone wanting first, then they either sent it back (never happened once) or they paid.. (always got paid)

So if one of you guys is hot onto E-Bay I could use the help, but if not I will find the time and get one from a dealer.

The plan right now is beat that fender back, leave the scars as they are, and stick on bumper sticker that says Break for Moose I can get local.

I will fix the lower chrome easy and replace the wallworld lamps to ride again!

At this point I am loosing track of just how many times I evaded death... There can't be too many more times left...

Almost forgot. when the pics get uploaded to my photobucket I will place links here, not pics.. The moose appears to be resting on it's left side in water covering it from the spine down, or uncovered in the air for it's whole right side. Not grusum, but some folks could have a bad time seeing it I suppose..
