New rattle sound coming from the radiator

I have a new sound that I believe to be coming from the radiator. I gave it a wobble and the bottom right side is loose. As I look at it more carefully I notice that there are two small grommets at the bottom that hold it place-similar to the bags. One must have worked it's way loose and is allowing it to shake.

Has anyone had a problem like this?

NO, not yet. But I have had the ole common radiator screen vibrating against the radiator itself at certain rpm's/speeds. I have tried to fix it a few times over nearly 5 yrs and have failed. Others have said try this and try that, but nothing works, except take off the screen, which im not doing. I have seen those rubber grommets you mention. You'll have to order a few extras.

I had the rattle.

Took the screen off and put weather stripping all the way around the cover. Don't remember the size of weather stripping since its been awhile but was narrow.
Cured the rattling problem.

Perhaps a couple small gobs of silicone in the right spot would get rid of the vibration. Id give it a try.

You can most likely save yourself some money by removing the other grommet and taking it to your local hardware store. Most of them have different sizes of grommets and you might find one that will work.

Mine rattled all the time, a common problem according to the # of posts. I found a grommet that was close enough at Lowes & put a strip of 3/8 weatherstriping between cover and screen to take up all the slack. After 4k mi. road trip, numerous mi. of construction and bumpy gravel roads, not one rattle! Well worth 20 minutes and $3.

On mine as I see it, the screen is laying nearly in direct contact with the radiator itself. it would take something to push between the two. I thought about a couple metal bars, very small in size, a beer can, etc.

Weatherstripping under the shroud worked for me. It pushed the screen hard against the rad, no more rattle. 3/16th x 1/2" if I remember correctly.

I've had the same rattle coming up from my radiatorcover, sticking a line of selfadhesive wheel balance weights on the inside of the cover and the sound was gone.

At certain rpm's the cover comes in a sort of own vibration and make the rattle/sound.

Give it a try!
