Another example of government help lowering cost

Amazingly there are still lots of jobs where if you run the company into bankruptcy you still get bonuses.....

Amazingly the list still includes the government CEO's
(who arent under the same rules and those greedy wall street CEO's they want to hang)

Where's Barney, Pelosi and their other elitist comrades on these bonuses and pay scales????

When are the CEO's running our government going to take pay cuts as justifiably as they give them?

You gotta love America.

The only place on the planet where the Peter Principle is handsomely rewarded.

This has got to change. If I don't do my job I will loose it. Simple. Should be a universal truth.

NriderUSA, I wonder if I coud be OT and ask a question? The question is for anyone answering this thread. The title caused me to recall a time in 2004, when the state of NH cut property taxes, but also re-evaluted all properties.

I think this was Nation wide, but i am not sure. If it was nation wide and in 2004 I would like to know.

My thinking tells me it was indeed nation wide, but the common man thinks it was just his state which ever that might be.

Don't get me started on property taxes!
In 1991, I converted my attached garage into a Beauty Salon for my wife to go into business for herself. Went through all of the proper channels (zoning, regional building, city sales tax license, etc) before ever even beginning the project. Discovered that my property is not zoned for commercial business, but is zoned for sole proprietor type businesses, which they told me meant that yes, we can build her shop, but must provide off-street parking (no problem) and she may only have a single station salon, with no employees (again, no problem as he just wanted to service her existing client base).
Everything was fine until 2004 when they re-appraised property values and tax rates. They began to tax me at the commercial property rate, which was more than double the residential rate on the same property. Oh the fights I had with them over that! How can you tax me at the commercial rate, when you say that I cannot have a commercial property due to zoning restrictions? But they don't want to hear (or apply) logic or reason.
Greedy bastitches! After much fighting, the only compromise they would offer me is to tax just the square footage of her salon at the commercial rate. Initially, they wanted to tax my whole home at the commercial rate.
Too many people working in a bloated government agency trying to justify their job. Grrrrrrrr!!! :(" title="" border="0"/>

Geeze Daryl, the g'vmt needs all the money they can get. It's not fair of you to deny them. They have all of those welfare cases and illegal aliens to support and everyone knows you are rich.

A few years ago they changed things here as well, our property taxes get reassed every couple years now. The town will actually send someone out to check over your property and will raise the taxes if youve done any improvements. If you finish the basement, add a bathroom, a patio, deck, etc, they will get you. However if you let your property turn into a dump, they wont give you a reduction either. So far my taxes have gone up 400% in the 24 years that Ive lived here.

Way things are going, its probably going to get worse. We appear to have most politicians believing they are representing their views and values, not the peoples.

Just a quicky so that others can share in my pain.
I live in Jacksonville FL. I am retired (i.e. living on a fixed income). I own a home in Charlotte NC that has been for sale for over 2 years. Started out at 295,000 (I paid $319,000 for it two years before that when I bought it as new construction) and it is currently listed for $219,000. In May 2009 I got a notice from Mecklinburg Co NC that they were raising the Asessed Value to $349,000 (which will inturn raise what they charge me in taxes) When I tried to fight it their proof was that there were only two home sales in the past year in my community and they were both for $349,000. I tried pointing out that both of those homes had been originally purchased for over $400,000 but they had proof that every home in Whitehall was worth at least $349,000 and they wouldn't budge. I contacted an attorney and it will cost more to fight this than the increase is. Sound like they have me by the short hairs????? Yup!!! I happen to be one person who won't walk away from their obligations so they have to charge me cause the dozen homes in the comunity that are vacant forclosures aren't paying any tax.
