Dennis just go to Custom Dynamics.com and tell them your bike. you can get the plug n' play or the splice in. I bought the plug n play for about $182 and is soooo easy. You won't be sorry.

some debaffle and don't need it, some debaffle and need it. I debaffled and needed it badly. The bike runs better now than it did stock. Best investment I ever made. Easy to install and setup too. Then you are all set for whenever you decide to do anything to the intake cause all you have to do is adjust the dials.

You can usually get by with it if just debaffled (need and want are different things), but you still get performance increase with TFI if everything else is just stock.

This TFI modual fits a lot of other bikes as well, and with the same part number.

Your choice is cheaper and you solder it, the hard part telling the colors of the wire at the ecu, one being blue with green and the other being green with blue which is damned hard to tell by eye, and I use a ohm meter to make certain, and or plug and play where it costs more.

Being cheap I have never installed the plug and play yet... I can use 20 bucks for other bling...

Caper,
In my opinion and also Gadget's, you do not need a TFI or any other fuel processor if your bike runs good to your satisfaction without pinging on premium fuel. However as others have mentioned a slight and I mean slight increase in power might be noticed and your cooling fan may not come on as soon or often when a fuel processor is added. Each bike and riding style along with climate you ride in varies as does the need for a TFI. Some guys can run on 89 and a fewer amount of guys can run on 87 octane after adding a TFI. With my 07 Nomad that has only debaffled stock mufflers and a TFI I still need to run premium gas or I will have pinging. My bike is running great on premium.
With baffles or without baffles my bike ran no different before the TFI was installed. The only reason I added the TFI was to eliminate the bad pinging it had.
Gadget has always said the only time you really need to add a fuel processor was to either correct a lean condition which most of our Nomads are to meet EPA specs. Evidence of the lean condition is the pinging I was having on 93 octane. The other reason to add a fuel processor is when the intake is opened up to allow more air flow, then fuel needs to be added to correct the air/fuel ratio.
Hope this answers your question.
Glenn

Another advantage to the TFI is you can now run 87 and NOT ping. Thats a BIGGY.
