As a biker, I don't support this. But I can't say I'm surprised. I think it's only a matter of time.

It is going to happen eventually. I hear my neighbors complain all the time about loud bikes.

I found something I thought was interesting on HD's site regarding their history of "not so loud" bikes:

1906: The nickname "Silent Gray Fellow" is used for the first time.

1919: The 37 cubic inch opposed twin cylinder Sport model is introduced and quickly earns a reputation for being uncommonly quiet.

On a side note not related to loud pipes: in 1935 HD claims that the Japanese motorcycle industry is founded as a result of Harley-Davidson licensing blueprints, tools, dies and machinery to the Sankyo Company of Japan. The result is the Rikuo motorcycle.

I just find it interesting that HD is making the claim of starting the Japanese MC industry.
