I know there have been several Grasshopper posts lately, but I feel when a good product and great customer service have both been received, they should spoken about.
I ordered a Grasshopper backrest last Monday night, and it arrived today. I was very impressed with the one week service time and the communication in between. The three minute install job went quickly, and then I took it for a 140 mile trip to do some Mother's Day shopping for my wife. I am very pleased with the backrest. As several have said, they really make me appreciate my highway pegs even more. So, if any of you are considering a backrest, I give my full "two-thumbs up" endorsement to the Grasshopper! A backrest can make all the difference IMHO. There are some great products available from members here!

I have read a lot of good reviews about his backrests. I am patiently waiting for him to build one that fits the mustang seats.

can someone post a pic of it installed on the bike. I am curious as to what a backrest will do to my riding position.

I have adjusted mine forward quite a bit. It is easy to modify. I have no complaints about my Grasshopper.

Here ya go. To answer your question, you do sit a little more forward with it than without. Hasn't been an issue for me though.
Installed: ![]() This is the bracket, installed at the mount bolt for the front seat. Ignore how it pushes the back of the seat down - I bent the bracket to give me a more upright sitting position, but have since bent it back to stock: ![]()

i too have patiently waited for him to build one for the mustang
seat.as of a few days ago he said he was at the mercy of getting a 1600 nomad model to work with.they have been out for a few years and now they are obsolete so we may never see one.

Does the post hinge like some that can flip down for the passenger. My wife has concerns about getting her leg over it.

Taranis,
I hope you are paying your neighbor for using that picture in your background. LOL

No, but I am tired of him being in the shot... nothing a little PaintShop Pro tweaking can't fix! ;)

OP-there is no hinge on the bracket, so it does not move. The whole backrest can be pulled straight off to remove, but there is no hinge.

I was also very pleased with mine for the same reasons. I put mine on last week, and took it for a long ride last Saturday. It does make me sit up a little more, but it gives enough to let me lean back when I need to stretch. I haven't tried it with my wife on the back, yet.
Kudos to Grasshopper!
