HP vs Weight answer
This is what I received from Ma Kaw. It came from Mark Giest,
Consumer Services. I'm only going to relay part of what he said. " You pose a great question, where is the 50 MPG bike ? This is a question we have no answer to here, and something that I'm sure could be discussed at length with a mecanical engineer. However some of the here and now reasons for seeing the mileage you mentioned in your letter breaks down to performance. Motorcycles, unlike most cars are designed primarily as performance machines and that typically equates to around 32 MPG from a 5.2 gallon tank for most Vulcan's unless you want to ride your KLR 650 every where." There's more BS , but that's all it is BS. I'd like to know what the size of the tank has to do with mileage. This guy must be a new hire from a turnip farm. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Perhaps you can debate with him the merits of the old 4.2 gallon tank and how their decision to go with the 5.2 has affected millage?

Boo Hoo Hoo - up here in the Great White North we have been paying as much as $1.29 per litre or that's $5.16 per Merikan Gallon. That was fro Premium - now it's around $1.09 per litre and we are the one's who make that damn stuff!
