Use a long shank hole saw?

Has anyone taken a hole saw, welded a long shank onto it and drilled out just the end of the baffles? After looking at the picture of how the mufflers are made, I would think it would allow a freer flow of exhaust gas and maybe a little lower tone?
Anyone done this?
