Lake Tahoe

Starting to plan a summer trip. Lake Tahoe is in the running. Who from western canada is considering this? Maybe we could organize a convoy to go down there.?

Hey kawvoy, checkout the rides and rallies section for some info on a get-together in Lake Tahoe sometime in June.

The way our business is flattening out right now in Alberta I'll be lucky to stay working this year. The oil glut will shut down sands production and pretty much everything else if the price falls to what some are predicting. At $1.30 to buy a US buck today I'm riding north of the line this summer.

Might be a good idea. If it gets any worse, we will be staying north too.

Hey guys I'm in the same boat. High exchange rate and job security. How about the idea of a meet in BC as posted before?

I remember checking out hotels in a few spots & Quesnel looked pretty good. The best in some other spots looked like they were rented out by the hour. I read a history of BC's gold rush days and ghost towns one time and I've always wanted to see Barkerville which is a short hop. The Barkerville/Nazko roads are supposed to be one of BC's best biking roads. What else is paved off 97 I'm not sure but probably the BC guys would know.

I'm having second thoughts of going south with the exchange on the $$$ being what it is. If there's a ride coming up this way [Quesnel] or Barkerville I'd probably be able to join up. Maybe a stop here on "the 108 Ranch" if a layover is needed. The "108 Resort" has cheaper rooms but quite nice. It's right here on "the 108 Ranch". I'll stay tuned and see if there's an interest. Or get hold of me and let me know your thoughts.
Barkerville is pretty cool....I haven't been there for yrs. but they have really put some $$$ into the place .....they dress in period and do reenactments of the "good ol' days.

Richard and Eagle Eye. That sounds intersting. Definitely something to consider. Maybe we could end up with a western canada regional rally???
Or for those that want a longer trip, we could do the northern BC loop including 108 mile.

I'll bet Mike "lomax" Donahue would be interested in something. He was talking about going south but I have a feeling there are going to be a few plans change if the dollar doesn't improve. chat with Mike on FaceBook so I'll see what his plans are. John "Bdog" Blackwell would meet up too I bet,...I'll chat with him too and get back here to "ya all".

This shouldn't be to hard to setup and make it happen. I know I'm not going across the border the way things are going right now. I like the idea of the Caribou region. Just hope we might do this around the end of June. Still open to any dates at this time.
