Thunder intake gasket tighteing
I have a question for the forum members that used the thunder intake gasket to fix air leak. When you installed the gasket did you tighten the three bolts to 3lb tork or did you tighten all the way tight. I dont have a tork wrench and went by feel and was trying to get an idea what worked better. Thank You for Your Info.

Also make sure you tighten them evenly. in other words don't tighten one and then another and so on, that way you get a nice even pressure on the gasket.

Thanks Smokey,
I did that run good for a couple three weeks and started that popping and once in awhile backfire. So Yesterday I tightened them in rotation just a little bit more will try to ride today high 40-50 will see how it does. Getting ready to wrap pipesthis week. |

I have V&H pipes took a ride today short one and popping was better sence I tightened the throttle body screws a little yesterday. Might tighten them a little more when I wrap the pipes think I'll paint the header pipes with high temp paint to help keep from rusting. Does that make sence why do some people paint the wrap after their done wraping what does it do. Thanks.

I wrapped mine, and found the heat was less, but then I put the KAMS kit in and never bothered putting the wrap back on.

Did the thicker intake gasket remedy the popping? Keep us posted on your progress.

Because it's seems a little not thought out. Tightening as much as one can, can lead to stripped threads and a warped TB. You have no idea how many Rochester Quadrajets I have worked on when someone tightened it as much as they could. Just saying, nothing personal.

Maybe you could borrow a torque wrench? Tightening to specs is the best way to do things.
