i own a 07' nomad 1600..do we have teflon lined cable innards, or do we need to lube them? i have never done it, and have never had any problems with sticky cables, but want to make sure i'm taking the best care of the bike. thanks, shine

I assume you mean the throttle cables, I spray a bit of lube at each end, and it seems to keep it working free and easy.

A cable luber helps if you have one, but nobody here ever mentions that the cables are getting tight.

68,000 miles on my 07 and never lubed a cable yet.
Still working like new. Man there is a lot of over maintenance on the bikes on this site.

Tim if something can rust or bind I just want to help prevent it. Besides it gives me something extra to do. Enjoy fooling with the bike plus I gain a little experience each time I do something to it.

I understand Gene. Not a problem.
For me it is different. I don't like messing with the bike mechanically. I like riding the bike. I just think much of the , take this apart and take that apart, is not necessary. This is just my opinion, everyone else's obviously will vary ;)

I learned how to fix them becauseI could never afford to have someone fix it when I was younger. Now I enjoy working on the bike myself.

My throttle cables have become squeaky 2-3 times since I bought her new in 2005. I just open the 2 piece housing and add a little lube down both cables and she is good to go.

Gadget has a peice on oilimg the levers but like said above they are hydralic lines. Also as Top Cat says sometimes doing to much is just opening of a new can of wormsIf you read about on a website it is because something went wrong but look at all the others who never have trouble with certain things,(swingarms)although I was guilty of over maintaining at first myself!
