No doubt this officer has done that a couple times!

If you watch him in the tight-turns he is using the technique "Ride Like A Pro" teaches; which is to use you rear brake in conjunction with the clutch and throttle set together to create a "friction-point" (half in gear -- half out -- while slight braking). Doing that stiffens the bike to help keep it upright. Also note where he is looking prior and during his turns.... always looking "out and away" from the bike a good distance to where he is going... not down to the ground where he is at.

I have practiced that technique quite a few times and it has helped me tremendously... however I am no where remotely close to what the officer in your video shows. That guy was unbelievable.

He is better than I could ever hope to be. Heck I couldn't even become half that good.

Id like to practice those manuevers using his bike, until I learned how. Id probably get dizzy doing that course.

I agree, if I could practice on somebody elses bike I would have at it. I do visit the school parking lot every now and then to try to get my U Turn circle down to twenty feet, feathering the clutch, applying a little rear brake, HANDS OFF the front brake, looking down range where I want to go. I can get it every now and then where I scrape the foot board but the fear of dropping the bike keeps me from mastering it consistantly.

Your are correct Greg. I have the video and it really helped me do the tail of the dragon. I am continuously trying to improve my slow maneuvers doing the clutch/throttle/brake but that really takes a lot of practice. Though, i am not as good as most riders, i do believe the video has helped me understand and get use to the characteristics of the bike. BTW, I finally scrapped the floor board during a corner for the first time using the techniques shown. Very happy.

BR... it really does help, but you're right... you have to really practice it a lot or else you'll never get better... or you'll lose whatever skill you did gain.

However, I have only on occasion scraped the boards and it damned near scared the heck out of me!

Not near as much as the sight of a trailer-strap does though! ;)

Greg,

Since you have the lowering kit on your Ultra, doesn't the floorboards scrap often?
