They don't play here!

I know that I've told you all several times how tough the laws and judges are here in Louisiana. Read the entire article (3 pages) below and you'll understand what I'm saying. This guy could have gotten the maximum of 70 years but got off "light" for his actions. I'm curious to see what will happen to the guy that killed the MC cop and critically injured his girlfriend over the weekend when he turned left and violated his right of way.

I can't believe this idiot's attorney tried to say some of the damage was out of his clients control. Weazel attorneys.

Mr Attorney.....crawl in the hole you came out of, Your client is 100% responsible,

Gotta love small town newspapers. They print addresses. Do they still print the addresses of the deceased in the obituaries?

25 years for two lives. That isn't much at all. Lives aren't worth much these days.

No Scott, they don't print the addresses in the Obits. Just where the deceased is native of and the city and state they lived in at the time of death. No Gene, 25 years isn't enough. You can't put a price tag or penalty on a human life but in many states this guy wouldn't have received even a slap on the wrist. 30 days to 6 months maximum in a county jail is considered harsh in other places. If he would have been an habitual offender, the 3 strikes and you're out ruling would have doubled his maximum sentence to 140 years. That would have put him behind bars for at least 50 years. Still not enough but plenty of time to get his rear end reamed. A few years ago, a local guy injured a married couple pretty badly in an auto crash. It was his 4th DWI in a 5 year period. One of our district judges sentenced him to 50 years of hard labor at Angola State Pen. Last I heard he's still there rotting away.

Mitch, you are right. Here in Vermont, our system can't help the accused enough. They have better treatment and resources available to them, then the average person.
We had a man yesterday, that took the police in four towns, two county sherrifs offices and the state police from two barracks to stop him. An hour long chase, people being forced off the road. Speeds over 100 mph, right past a major intersection for the regional medical center. Already one of the most dangerous intersections around. The suspect was finally stopped with a bullet in him and the tires had been flattened by spikes. A large crowd appeared to see what was going on. When they found out, they started to taunt the suspect, he promised to come back and get them. This guy is already familiar with the prison system. He escaped from his furlough. He won't be expected to pay back the state, counties or local law enforcement. He will get free legal advise. Free meals, a bed, and all the other stuff we can provide these jerks.
Doesn't seem fair.

They print salaries of people that work for the local school district.

If it were up to me, prison would be solitary confinement, more or less. No TV, reading, exercise or weights, only food and a place to sleep and sh*t. No roommates either.
