Missing Missile

I would write a missive about a missing missile if I were a versifier.
That its gone troubles me, it does, truly I’m no liar.
I heard a ‘whoosh’ and looked into the sky.
I saw a streak of smoke and bright light that hurt my eye.
In a panic I turned and espied my empty silo.
And puzzled as to the reason it left though I looked high and low.
When the cops come to investigate, I’ll just reply, “I can’t say”.
“You can’t ask me that” (sometimes it’s great to work for the CIA).

What is this you speak of? A flash across the sky? Billowing smoke in its wake? Did any one see this? Did it really happen? Or are we too absorbed to notice? I think not. Maybe it had parts from Kawi in there. Maybe, but there is no proof.

Just the Navy rotating the inventory. That one was rapidly approaching its "best if used by xx-xx-xxxx" date. Besides, the budget is a "use it or lose it" thing so in order to get new missles, some have to be . . . tested.

Is that the same as the "born-on-date" LW?

Five-bucks says it was contrails from a jetliner... If you watch the video, you'll see that it looks like it is going straight-up; but turn the screen sideways and all of a sudden you'll see that the film was turned to make it look that way. There also isn't any rocket-flame-exhaust trailing behind it -- only a glow at the tip of it (which is the reflection of the sun off the jet fuselage -- not a flame-exhaust). Missiles don't look like that -- period.

...just saying. ;)

And Loafer... don't start stirring the pot here too!!

Yeah Greg thats the one.
I saw an explaination that the optical perspective from the helicopter coupled with the jet coming toward the camera would make it look like it was going straight up; and it was going a bit slow to be a rocket powered munition delivery device.
The rotating the inventory theory had a nice ring to it though.
A different kind of "Jobs for Americans" program.

I was hoping it was the Japanese trying out there new line of rocket scooters. ;) Or Ethan Allen furniture burning wear marks into their rocking chairs.

Greg I have to agree with you. Years ago back in Illinois one Saturday morning I saw what I would have sworn was a missile launch to the west. I called my wife and we watched the trajectory slowly flatten out and the 747 passed by us about 7 minutes later on it's approach to O'Hare 100 miles to the east.

Lots of good theories but it was probably just aliens or illegal aliens. New way to transport them.

Well as i understand it the globe is 26,000 miles around. Since the missel went west from cal, if it travels 23,000 miles that oputs it on the east coast. According to the map this is about the same latitude as dc, and we sure have enough problems from DC, so IMO if DC was gone, so would most of the problems be gone.

Not a bad theory there Mac. ;)

Stan... I have seen the same thing before and it flipped me out at first until I waited longer for it to make sense. That's one reason "eye-witness" reports should likely no longer be allowed in court. People don't know what they are seeing sometimes... and of course, there is a large number of people still seeing UFO's, Big Foot, and Ghosts.... just saying.

Loafer... Japanese rocket-scooters? As long as there weren't any Kawasaki parts in them!!
