Thunder Monster Baffles
In an attempt to get a little more low end torque and enhance performance a bit, I'm looking into Thunder Monster Baffles. I vaguely recall that someone posted something here about them, but I've slept since then.
Is anyone running with these baffles? If so, what are your thoughts on them?

Thunder Monster Baffles
I had them for a while and they do sound great. I posted a vid on youtube regarding the baffles, but I'm not sure how much you can hear the difference there:
Other options are Torque Cones, or I began to experiment with a piece of plumbing too but didn't mess around with it too much before moving on to some Screamin' Eagle muffers I picked up cheap. My hopes for the plumbing was to find a cheaper option to share with everyone who, like me, had reservations about spending $80 on something that looks so simple. ;) The picture below is (right) Monster Baffle, (Left) Copper plumbing fitting. ![]() ![]() ![]() The monster baffles are probably the most expensive option . . .

Mike (Classic1) was running them, and they were the inspiration for me when I designed the "Ultimate Baffle", A HD friend of mine has the "Rush" slip-ons (man,,, do they sound good), and I basically crossed the two to get the UB. The "Thunder-Monster does change the tone of the exhaust note, but they are designed to run in pipes with no baffles.

jestephens, what are the sizes and where did you get them?
VulcanE - does your UB give the same loud sound as a debaffled pipe? And how much is it? And will it fit Vance and Hines?

Thunder Monster Baffles
Hey SWB, the TM baffles that I have are ones that I had left over from when I had my 1500 classic with V&H longshots. They are 2-1/8" dia and fit at the end of the longshots where the V&H baffles were. So I bought 2-1/4" exhaust pipe and made internal pipes the size of V&H longshots so that the TM's would fit. I also had to make a "doughnut" to fit the ID of the baggers and a necked down pc for the other end similar to jestephens copper pc. It's like having longshot mufflers inside of the baggers.

If you go to the "nomad garage" section and go to page 36, there's a link and discussion about different baffle sounds. The link also has dk dixie"s UB sound clip too and pics of the internal pipes that I made.

The UB's are most definitely the easiest to install!!!!
![]() Regarding the copper pieces. I got them at Lowes, and I'd be lying if I told your I remembered what size they were. Right now, I'm all packed up to move, and our moving date just got pushed back a week. I'll look/dig a bit and let you know what I find. -Jay

1-1/2" to 1" reducer. (not a coupling) Meaning: The 1-1/2" side is the same size as a 1-1/2" pipe, and the 1" side fits over its respective pipe. As you can imagine, there are other sizes available if more, or less, restriction is desired. I think it's still worth playing with, but undoubtedly agree the UB or some sort of stock-baffle shortening is the easiest to install, or modify later.
