Rear fender options for the 1600.

I'm trying to decide how to dress up the rear fender. I have seen a few fender tips, but are there an rear fender rails? It would be nice if there was a one piece bag/rear fender rail.

Post a pic of what you got...Thanks in advance!

Also, the front fender and forks are the same on the 1500 and 1600 right? So, a front fender rail for the 1500 should fit the 1600.

Noooooo The ft and rear fenders from a 1500 are not close to the same for a 1600.

There are different kinds of rear fender bag rails for a solo bike. Are you, or have you gone solo only? Most of this type of rail sets are from custom shops and JC Whitney, and are in general fitment

Some are 3 rails, 4 rails and or cut out shapes. Some are curved and others are flat.

I don't and won't go solo, as my wife likes to go.... I tend to not buy non-fuction bling too.

Other guys here like the fender tips, but I never had them. Sand and salt would just get caught in these where I live.

I know for a fact that the rear fenders are different on the 1600 and 1500, but I thought the front was the same?? Mac are you sure that they aren't?

I am sure you can find a speciality shop or something online that offers a rear rail.

Have you tried ebay? I saw the front fender rail on there a few weeks ago.

There's no such animal for the rear. Trust me, I've been searching for over 2 years. It's something I've griped about several times on here.

They do make a 1600 front fender rail, and I have one.

+1 As CJ said there is no rear fender rail. I have been looking since I drove mine home from the dealer in '05....does not exist unfortunately. We get the chrome filler rails between the bags and the fender instead :(.

Rear fender options for the 1600.

Do you guys know what it would take to make it work? Is it an easy job or would it be just difficult as making it from scratch?

There was a guy on the Delphi forum that made one work, but it was jury-rigged and didn't look really good. You'd probably do a better job making one from scratch.

I will double check, but the front rail will fit either one, but for sure the rear wont. I have front and rear rails just like the picture you had and will look at the 1600 and see. But doubt it will happen today, I keep my bike here at the shop where I work cause I'm doing carport work, and his is at his house down the road, if it stops raining long enough I will get him to bring it here and I will compare.

100% sure both fenders are different from 1500 to 1600. The lower bag rails would be the same though.

You might mock up something from the 1500 in the way of fender rails, but you better be real crafty.

I had a 1500 Nomad and it was stolen after I owned it 361 days. It had top and bottom bag rails. I went and bought a trailer hitch and was told i couldn't use the lower rails, but I sure did. I had to mod them though, but to me it was easy.

I never had ft fender rails, or any rear fender rails, so I can't say what to do to mod them.

You could always buy me a set and I can see though

Now looking at Cj's ft rails I might see that modded to fit a rear fender. I can't say for sure if that can be done from 1 picture, but it looks possible.

If I were going to try that I would mock up manillia folder paper with tape, and create extenders from the bag spreader rail crossing from saddlebag frame to saddlebag frame, so the new added on brackets meet the the supports on the chrome rails.

Cj can look at that idea a lot better than I can. I see that the angle is off, but maybe the whole rail can be extended out enough to sort of work out well, and maybe not..

I think we've all been looking for that rear fender rail. For whatever reason it is not available for the 1600. Go figure.... :-/.
