Damn computers!!!

Last Thursday evening my DSL bit the dust. It was constantly going down, all times of the day. So I got fed up and made my last call to friggin India and told them where to shove their account!!
I've had Mindspring for years, and it seemed each year it was getting slower and slower. (Download was 1.25 and upload was 0.25) That's what they call "High speed"!!

Well, Saturday I went with AT&T.. Now I have HIGH SPEED INTERNET!!
Download is now 6.24 Mpbs and upload 515 Kpbs.

Here's the "damn" problem... I now have to have a new email address and I'm learning everything new about emailing and addressing on a new system.
It only took me 7 years to get the last one right!!! ::)

I've had to change my web page's address, and send out emails to everyone I know.
All my links, EBAY, different forums , checking info and about everything else I had to either rejoin or reset everything!~!

All my accounts are having to be rejoined and I'm having to get new numbers, passwords and nick names to stay with them.
They won't let you use the same nickname with a different address...C_R_A_P!!!

Why not set up an e-mail address with MSN or Yahoo? They're free and you can access them from anywhere.

I was with A T & T for several years. I quit them because of all of the SPAM I was getting on my at&t.net email address. They were selling our email addresses because most of the unwanted junk mail I was getting was only being sent to A T & T web addresses. I inquired about it and couldn't get a straight answer from them. So I quit and went to comcast. Been there ever since.

My repairman just left with it and I'm now using my little tiny lap top.

A little sensitive there CJ? When I started working for Idaho Power we did not have one computer in our shop. Now myself and all of my techs have laptops, we have a shop server, we have several PC's spread out across the system, we have numerous communications programs and terminal emulation software to talk to multiple different pieces of equipment.

Oh, we get less done also.

I would say what someone else said, get you a free Yahoo email address. I have had one for years and that way if you change internet service providers you will have that email address to fall back on.

No, not really. I was just reciting the spiel my old man used to give me anytime I would complain about having to wait for a bus or having to ride a bus. You see, he was a Greyhound bus driver for 38 years.

I just changed to DSL (ATT) from cable (Inshght). Cable over priced saving $30 a month over the cable and getting a MUCH better TV picture with ATT while the internet speed seems about the same. Happy with it so far. I do agree it is a pain in the butt to have to visit all of the website i use and make sure I change my e-mail address, by the way, better check here too... oops!

CJ... normally I am with 'ya to not bash computers as I provide support for our building but this has been the week from hell Replacing 170+ workstations with thin client, dealing with a principal who cannot make up her mind where she wants to put a lab (changed her mind four times in two days moving tables around for them), moving other workstations to other rooms, who needs what software available, and I refuse to listen to complaints of them not printing any more.

It has been a top down cluster f--- as our district in their infinite wisdom decided to reimage the remaining workstations, removing mapping to all network shares and personal folders where we were told to back up our data to. Our curriculum is being driven by out IT department and I would love to challenge them to come in to do their jobs using the profiles we have to live with for 'security" purposes (disabling right-clicking for example). Try teaching computer classes and not have this ability... arghhh. I'll stop here...go watch some un-pixelated TV before turning in!

I learned that lesson after getting off earth link for my USA trip. Now I just run the e-mail open here to anyone.

My idea of the perfect computer is 36 26 36 walks, and can talk, but not ask questions. Only talks when spoken too.

AT&T is anti gun, and I won't use them nor anyone else i find who is anti gun.

I stopped doing business at K-Mart when they listened to Rosie O. and stopped selling handgun ammo.
